2026 Champion Chase

Agreed, does mean Harry can ride LDS without having to make any tough decisions too.

Do think it would have really suited him with Thistleask in there

….Mullins;

‘Il Etait Temps has been fine since he came home from Ascot. He took a tired fall there and we’ll look to build him back up with a view to going to Cheltenham for the Champion Chase.‘

Will be a top training feat that but it's Willie we are talking about. Glad he's ok.

Despite a slight drift in the market for the Dublin Chase Barry Connell had the following to say:

“The chase track is still yielding to soft, and there is 60mils due this week. The chase track won’t be heavy. We will run no matter what."

Looking around the early NRNB markets from Coral/Ladbrokes and it's looking pretty bleak, but Quilixios @ 14/1 NRNB is plenty fair enough, right?

I expect he could become one for the tipsters as something different so could go off shorter.

Yeah at 16s in the normal market you’d have to say that’s OK although he won’t be going anywhere else, you’re basically giving up 2 points for insurance against health issues…

Happy enough to chuck 2pts in the bin, especially as cash out is gone before you can blink nowadays, so might as well take the 'insured' price.

Yeah think Quilixios is a reasonable one for nrmb, not a huge difference for the insurance.
I think Jonbon is reasonable too, as I think the only way he comes here is if Maj and or Marine don’t make it, and then he’s shorter.
Should be in the Ryanair, and I think he will be, but this race can cut up and can produce the unexpected!!

Latest DRF Forfeit Stage:

Energumene
Found A Fifty
Majborough
Marine Nationale
Senecia
Solness
Only By Night

Majborough fav for the DRF then... Conditions gone against Marine must be the reason. But I'm still not sure I'd want to be back Majborough as a fav.

Finding myself wanting to have a small bet on Energumene this weekend, he'll absolutely love the going. Maybe he can roll back the years one last time.

Possible opposition could include last season’s Champion Chase winner Marine Nationale and Bloom’s racing manager Sean Graham said: “The original plan with Energumene was step him up in trip, but with the way the ground is looking and if it’s described as heavy then I’d be very keen for him to take his chance.

“Marine Nationale has been taken out of races before when the ground has been soft or heavy and our fellow is in good form and while he’s a 12-year-old now and not getting any younger, this race could really cut up.

“If Majborough runs I would certainly be keen to not give him the soft lead he enjoyed at Cork and for us to, if not make the running, at least sit up on the pace because even though Energumene may have lost a bit of his speed, his jumping is certainly one of his assets.

“It’s been over two years since Energumene has raced on what would be his ground and what you will get is the National Hunt horses who want heavy ground getting it for a change.”

Old man Energumene will love the deep ground. If Maj jumping isn't clean again, Energumene could take advantage. Can't see Marine running. He'll go straight there now.

Edit: I've looked it up. And he actually said he'd run providing it's reasonable ground.
