2026 Champion Bumper

It takes an exceptional horse to win this as a four year old (only 3 ever?) The last one turned out to be a high 170 rated King George winner and the penultimate one a low 170 horse that started second favourite to Istabraq in the CH on two occasions. The weight allowance is there for a reason. That said I think it’s great that Darlojim brings us these kind of horses and at 33s people cannot expect a horse without any potential downside. Having made the decision to scale down my ante post this year, this race (and the triumph) were top of my non handicap list to minimise my stake on but I think I may well follow in for a few pennies. If anyone wants one to avoid in this my other investment is Wildes Legacy. Even accounting for the opposition not many brush off a penalty quite so emphatically and Im happy to throw a dart at 40s nrnb.

Other than that its sit back and watch the Irish horses fill 18 of the first 19 places :D

Blue Sari was a decent 2nd to Envoi (went off fav) as a 4 year old. Did sweet FA afterwards

Brassil was on Nick Luck today. Said he’ll get an entry along with It’s Only A Game.

Yeah I'd heard that already. Was just wondering if there was anything more than that.

Its a hard one to judge.

Originally weren't plan on either going.

Not a done deal by any means 1 will go even.

Still debating whether to change the 50s ante to 33s nrnb, or even to wait for the entries and then re-assess. Someone not keen on either going

Both look like proper stayers the Mullins top two and would prefer The Irish Avatar but i don't think they win the bumper this year anyway.

I would put a line through It's Only A Game's last run. Got very worked up at the start - maybe that's an on-going problem - and should have been withdrawn. Almost certainly the horse with the most ability in that race.

I know what you mean in a way, but Irish Avatar looked like he had a bit of boot. Travelled all over them then kicked away with ease. Good horses in behind too.

The opposite of Love Sign who, dare I say it, looked a little to have a real diesel.

I'm in total agreement with Saxon in that Love Sign looks a cut above. Yes he's pretty short now but I do think he'll go off fav and a fair bit shorter.

Having just listened to the podcast I think you can make a reasonable guess at how they rate them at Closutton:

1. Love Sign D’Aunou
2. Quiryn
3. Irish Avatar
4. Our Trigger
