2025 Stayers Hurdle

Sweet Cherries

I'm there Saturday so he'll be one Ill take a chance with. Doubts about the front two liking the course and the rest are not up to much. Transmission just loves it round there and devours the hill. Looks like we could get plenty of rain as well to make it testing.

….30-1 with Lads boost.

Not even close to their ability though is he ?
Just a jog around to protect his mark for NH chase in March.

Definitely hold bets on him also.
The prices are too short now and he should really be nearer 50's, and if we get a non runner which is highly likely, you're down to 2 places.
So betting today means shit odds for likely 2 places.

Obviously could have 3 or 4 pull out but you'd be Rules deducted anyhow.

Miserable sod

I fancy Sandor Clegane for the Stayers.. interesting to see how he gets on today on soft/ heavy ground.

Also had a bit of the 100/1 wtaf.

If he doesn't win today then I could see him potentially changing to the handicap route hurdles/chasing but we shall see.

Mystical Power looks a cert to run in the Stayers........

Also looking to get back on the right track is Mystical Power, who is another to score at the highest level last term but has been found wanting in two starts in open company this term.

Owned by a collection of the biggest names in racing, the son of Galileo – out of Closutton great Annie Power – could be set for a step up in trip as Mullins explores the possibility of a Stayers’ Hurdle tilt.

He continued: “What can you do? I would like to try him over further. He’s in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and I would probably go out in trip with him all right.

“Whether I run him before, and he could go to the Red Mills Hurdle, but I don’t want to go to the three-mile races as that would take too much to recover from at this stage of the season.”

Interesting runner (MP) but feels like Plan C
didnt have him down as stayer, kind of proven when beaten in the supreme after taking the lead

Think its plan A for Willie himself as he mentioned it in the stable tour before the season began.
McManus obviously over ruled, so Willie has showed them who's boss.

Yes - I think he could also be a player in a slowly run Stayers. I always felt in his novice hurdling season that he had a great turn of foot. Anything tactical might suit.

No real pace in the race this year either.

Absolutely this. He's always wanted him in it. JP probably didn't but has to come round to Willies thinking now having failed over 2m. One thing is for sure....he'll not be a 33/1 shot on the day. Probably go off 2nd fav.

Very tactical race when Teahupoo got turned over the first time. Hopefully he doesn't make the same mistake again but you never know.

Bit of a concern quite how badly he's been beaten both starts this season but seems a fair each way stab at 33s antepost or 25s NRNB. There's so little to like outside of the favourite, that taking a punt on one unexposed over the trip is the cover imo.

Although I've been stuck with an antepost slip for a while at the same price when he's been looking o a non runner. So maybe I've just convinced myself over time :beguiled:

is there a without market yet? Be a good Ew bet now in that I'd say.

Played it Each Way 1/4 odds 1st 2 without Crambo and Strong Leader @ 16/1 with 365.

That's that race sorted for Saturday. 6 to go......

A few on the Forum fancied Strong Leader early doors this year as the each way fancy against Teahupoo at 16/1 and after a too bad to be true run in the Long Walk (for which he has since had wind surgery) he is now 20/1

In last years Cleeve he was only beaten a length and a head into third, so concern about handling Cheltenham maybe unfounded? He is still rated higher than Crambo and beat him by a distance at Aintree last year, so tomorrows price must be more around whether the wind surgery has worked than his chances if back to his normal self.

20/1 NRMB EW looks the bet as if he wins tomorrow then he halves in price and if he bombs out then Olly has stated that he doesn’t go to the Stayers
