2025 Ryanair Chase

I'd be amazed if he ran at Cheltenham on the back of that

Absolutely amazed :kiwi-fruit::frog:

Your slips are in the bin chaps :indecisiveness:

:welcoming:

I backed him yonks ago for the CC, that long ago and the water that has passed under the bridge with him, i haven't even put him onto the final CC betting spreadsheet. I don't expect him to run but if he is fit i would. If he is declared i would dig the slip out. He would have needed the run, no doubt. Enurgemene won't be getting his heavy ground. I say 'roll the dice' :biggrin-new:

I find it quite sad to see what is happening with El Fabiolo. He was 2/9 Fav for the QMCC less than 12 months ago and looked like being a multiple times winner of the race. Is it confidence ? Or just fallen out of love with the game ? Either way I think the owners should think long and hard about what to do with him. Obviously I have no idea if he is showing a love for the game at home. Just being a horse loving softy.

I'd honestly move him to another yard and see if it sparks a revival. Mullins has said he's becoming difficult to train, maybe he might like the training more somewhere else. They're also trying to send him up in trip now too which I doubt will help anything. I think he's a two miler who just needs to brush up on his jumping, mullins can afford to give up on the 2m route as he'll have others for it but I think it's his best trip. Give him to henry de bromhead.

I'd consider going back over hurdles, his rating does mean he'd be up against it but it might just help as his technique over fences is pretty much gone now, I suspect most of that is due to the injury (which we don't know much about) that kept him off early season, possibly he got the injury at Cheltenham but it didn't show up on homework then when he went to Sandown it really did its work on him, hurdling is easier on the back and he might start making a good shape over his obstacles again.
I'd also go along with the idea of a change of scenery doing him some good, some horses do tire of the routene enforced on them at such large yards, a bit more free reign, smaller string gallops, more personal care & attention can work wonders, I'm not suggesting he isn't cared for there btw, just it becomes a conveyor belt of off one horse, wash legs, remove tack, put tack on next one and be out ready at the same time as everyone else, it can be all very rushed at times when you've 30 riders doing 5 lots a morning, sometimes they just need the odd pat down the neck and a brush over after a canter, gallop whatever, a little fuss can go a long way to rebuilding a horses belief in itself as well as making it enjoy being a racehorse.

It wouldn't surprise me if el fabiolo is feeling the effects of his novice chase season.
He smashed through fences at times, surely that would take its toll, knock confidence and lead to what we're seeing.

Let's hope they sort Majboroughs jumping out.....

The champion chase and celebration chase must have knocked his confidence

Can't not have

Would be nice if he went in the CC just so I can delay scrubbing them

Willie confirmed EF will miss Cheltenham and go Aintree

Speaking to Tattersalls Cheltenham, the trainer said: “Envoi has been brilliant. He won a Ryanair a couple of years ago, was second last year and he goes back there again.

“He seems in great form and he has a similar sort of profile to the year he won it. That year, he won the race up the north (Ladbrokes Champion Chase) and then ran badly in the King George. He then won the Ryanair, so we’re heading back on that line of form, and he seems great.

“Obviously, he is 11 now, so we’ll take each race at a time. He was disappointing at Kempton (unseated Rachael Blackmore in the King George VI Chase), but he seems in mighty form now. He’s done that before, so I think he deserves to take his chance in the Ryanair, and we can see after that.”

Available at 25/1 ante post

Festival form alone makes that worth looking at even

The 1-2 from last year isn't impossible

Another reason IEF may run in CC. Ryanair looking trickier and trickier.

I dont think gaelic will be a factor in their thinking at all

He's been running like hes had 7 pints of Guinness all season

If solness was to come out that could maybe sway them to CC. Hes the pace pressure.

Whereas he's likely to get an easy enough lead in the Ryanair.

This is how I see it too.

I don't think they want to get into a battle for the lead early. Much more chance of setting the fractions in a Ryanair than the Champion Chase with Solness present.

They also don't know if he's quick enough to lead 2 milers

Leading stayers is one thing, leading solness and jonbon is another

Hed likely have to go a lot faster than hes used to and completely empty up the hill due to it

Bounce out in the Ryanair and jump them silly like allaho and vautour is by far his best chance of winning

If he wins run him over 2 miles next time. If he goes well ready him for a proper season over 2 miles next year.

Not much of a surprise but no Spillanes Tower
