We opened a similar thread at this time last year and it seemed to work out well, so let’s have our ‘25 Novice Hurdle discussion in here covering The Supreme, Gallagher and Albert Bartlett.

I started off all enthusiastic about the Supreme , backed a few of the usual suspect's .
Then , the imaginary brick wall appeared ... so i cashed a few out last week., leaving about 4 or 5 .
Definitely a watching and waiting brief for Me now , until the season get's going and entries are made .

I've left the supreme alone so far this season, ended up with about 6 or 7 backed last festival and only tullyhill and jeriko du reponet made the gig and they didn't exactly set the world alight so had a word with myself this time around !

Ive been backing salvator mundi for the supreme, 2 runs under his belt, ran ok in the triumph considering first time out, hes probably going to take high rank in the novice hurdlers in that stable

I am going to put one up and I will either go down in FJ folklore or get laughed off the site (I think I know which it will be......).

Okay this is so left field it makes Tony Benn look like a Tory politician.

This horse has run once and absolutely trounced the opposition in a Class 2 bumper at Newbury in March 23. A lot of the horses from that bumper have developed into 120's / 130's horses.
He picked up an injury shortly before he was due to make his hurdles debut in November 23 and was put away in order to recuperate and strengthen up. He will be 6 come March 25 and assuming he recovers from injury, I fully expect him to develop into a high 130 / 140's horse which hopefully will be good enough to fight out the finish in the 25 Albert Bartlett. Enter the Anthony Honeyball trained Crest Of Glory.
According to connections, he's back in training and slowly building up his fitness on the horse walker. Fingers crossed he stays sound and can build on that solitary run.

I quite like Jalon D'oudairies​ for the Gallaghers @ 14/1. Was sold for 420k at the Cheltenham sales after winning a Lingstown maiden from which Bravesmansgame and Gerri Colombe both graduated​. He then went 2/2, beating Redemption Day (RD) over 2m over xmas and that form has been franked twice since. He made all that day and RD has a decent turn of foot and he couldn't pass him, so he's not slow but stays. He didn't just do all the donkey work from the front, he extended away again which is what you want to see. Thats what has me leaning more towards 2m5f than the Albert Bartlett. Gordon and O'leary don't run many in the bumper (3 in the last 10 years with GE) and I thought it was telling how adamant Gordon was post race that he would be going to Cheltenham for the Bumper and he said that as early as xmas with a glint in his eye. He clearly thinks he's as good as his price tag and he went to Cheltenham as a fav before finishing a credible 3rd (he was 13/2 at the end of feb and went off 3/q fav). He's a strong traveller but lacked a gear that day, but its good cheltenham experience and he clearly posses a lot of natural ability. When Samcro won the Ballymore for the same connections it's fair to say it looked a fairly plain renewal and at this very early stage nothing from Willies or Gordons jumps off the page so I think Jalon D'oudairies​ becomes interesting at a price

I was all over him for Cheltenham Charlie and thought he ran well but didn't look in love the hill - although one race hard to know if that's the case. The bumper form was blew apart a few times after Cheltenham too ... I do think this will definitely be his target though

He is one of two that I have shortlisted for the race as having the right profile matching many past winners. I wouldn't be too perturbed by his Cheltenham run, doing best of those to race on the pace in the 19 runner field. The form of the Champion Bumper is interesting. I wouldn't necessarily say it's not working out but that many to race since have run markedly below par. The first and second ran 24lb and 20lb below at Punchestown whilst the 4th was 12lb less. The 5th completely bombed out on his next start. The Yellow Clay in 6th at Cheltenham was the first one to step up at Punchestown with 4lb improvement. Two possibilities that I can think off, firstly the ground was considerably faster at Punchestown whilst it is possible that Cheltenham just took a lot out of the bumper horses on that heavily affected ground.

There's a horse that to my eye I can't see listed for any of the Novice Hurdles antepost and I'm gobsmacked.

Finished like a train to win at Ayr over 2m in their bumper at the national meeting - beating horses with some decent form.

I'm interested in him for the Ballymore & Bartlett, he's owned by Ronnir Bartlett trained by Gordon.... I'm genuinely gobsmacked he's not being mentioned by anyone given his profile!

Not seen him mentioned or priced up anywhere but my main fancy for the (cough) Albert Bartlett is The Enabler for Gordon and Gigginstown. He really impressed me last year and they held him back. He looks like an absolute bundle of power to me. If he was a car, he would be a Land Rover. Not many gears but can go at full throttle for a long way. He screams Albert Bartlett. I haven't seen anything of him being injured or anything but he looks to be a shoe in for that race even at this stage. Very few names written down for that race until the season develops but he is one i want to be on early. I have 2 backed at this stage, Sounds Victorious and You Oughta Know because Spectre is pretty convinced he is a stayer and was last year.

I nailed Stellar Story last season and I think connections have a decent one to go to war with this season. Like 95% of the horses Gigginstown purchase, he’s a stayer through and through. Lovely pedigree with plenty of black type and his 2nd dam is a half sister to Denman. He won the bumper at Navan that Gordon farms with his better horses but was always going to miss Cheltenham. Jalon D’oudairies was due to run in that race too but The Enabler was first choice on jockey bookings. His DRF defeat was still a good run as he got done by the speed horses in the finish which was expected.

Was that you Stellar Story. Legend Jackie. I got on it because of this forum. Went of the same price as I got :biggrin-new: oh have you, I don't do the Yankees. I probably should. He is one I really like. I think gigginstown have a few contenders but he is the top of the list

Thays such a bad price. There is only one race he can go for really. I was expecting about 33s but looking at that, he will be about 20s

Could he not be plotted towards a Pertemps ?
Obviously a bit trickier now….

…..after he was included in last months Yankee, I watched back Kopek des Bordes win in that €60k Fairyhouse bumper in March and it was impressive.

Bit of hype about him after that, so given the increasing ante-post caution I’m a little surprised he’s available at 25-1 for both Sup & Gallaghers, maybe he didn’t beat much.

Yeah he’s a text book Gigginstown purchase. I’d not be interested in him for any other race than the AB.

I don't think he would have the speed. He would get taken off his feet early on IMO. I'm with Jackie here, AB or nothing for me. They have a few candidates though Gigginstown but he'd be my pick before seeing what becomes of both Kish Bank and Drop A Threat who could both feasibly go down the bumper route.
