2024 Grand National

I assume he would have had the choice of IAM even though PT won on him in Irish National??

Massive decision and odd choice IMO especially re the Mares stat.

It's early days to judge how reducing the number of runners will affect the stats but, on the likely going, every pound over 11 stone will feel like two. I'm not parting with any money until I've heard the jockeys' comments after the Topham. It might miss best prices but there will be plenty of offers still available on Friday evening.

Edging towards your way of thinking too Archie, i also wouldn't be suprised to see less than 34 line up this year .

Looks to me like Walsh has been told he's riding Limerick Lace, rather than chosen her. No way is he choosing her over the two JP horses at the top of the market imo. Mullins horses have Mullins jockeys on them so I reckon JP has told him he's up on LL.

Interesting because Mullins has never seemed to have a say with JPs before has he. Just look at Cheltenham just gone. So you'd think Walsh has had the choice of them, unless something has changed. Can't say as it's a negative for any other than Limerick Lace though, who is the only one of JP's I've backed :excitement:

Assume it's going to be Hayes and not Patrick on Mr Incredible.

I wonder if JP is doing similar with I Am Maximus as he does with his horses with HDB in which Rachael gets to ride. After Paul won the Irish National on him it sort of makes sense. Fran Berry seemed to indicate Walsh had the choice of them all bar IAM.

It’s worth remembering it’s a handicap and the grand national. Limerick Lace is officially more well in and carries a weight below 11 stone and looks less exposed.
So not as strange a choice once you think about it.

Although of the three main JP contender’s it looks like they’ve put jockeys on top that were on when the horses won their big races, so this may have been a factor also.

Was waiting for the declaration and Lounge Lizard is in the Topham. 20/1 with 365 still available if anyone’s interested.

Well fancied for the plate at Cheltenham but didn’t make the cut.

Did say Mark hasn’t riden him before but yea definitely a decision that will be talked about.

Wonder has the trainers championship played a part with Mullins getting his no.1 jock on board plus theirs the obvious fact PT certainly knows how to ride IAM and get the best out of him.

He’s a odd sort IAM that’s for sure - if you were a jock I’m not sure you’d be jumping up and down to ride him in a Grand National - he’s won an Irish one but this will be different

….Conflated declared for Melling Chase, I assume that means the GN weights will rise.

With this deluge of rain (raining again the last few hours) I wonder if they’ll call tomorrow’s Foxhunters off to protect the National course. I’m no Michael Fish but I’m amazed they are officially still calling it Soft/Heavy.

Will hills epic boost, I've chanced a few quid on farouk D'lane Ew at 160/1 top 6 finish
Think he's a better horse that what he's shown of late the ground should be perfect for him come Saturday and I'm guessing Elliott has been running over hurdles most of the season with this in mind. I'm hoping he's ridden to eek out his stamina to stay the trip and,if the race cuts up may fill a place with some luck.

Pretty sure only the win part of the bet is boosted.

My Lucky Number 14.

I'll definitely have a go on him.

…..I’m waiting for Dandrew99 to put up a case for his beloved Landrake tomorrow.

I’m wanting to see a big drift and then I might be mad enough to have a little interest regardless. New trainer and horses who ran over fences earlier in the season have a decent record in the race :glee:
