2023 Novice Chasers

I still worry about that heart issue. Otherwise I’d be all over the 20/1.

I think at 20/1 it’s a risk maybe worth taking if you like the horse. If last year is anything to go on if he wins his beginners chase with any hint of ease those odds will be halved if they haven’t before then. With 365 being the standout price it may only be a few weeks away from them adjusting the price in line with others.

But Jon Bon still looks a beautiful horse and might just be awesome over a fence

Let's be honest if you wanted to breed a chaser these days and you could pick any bloodlines a walk in the park/saint des saints Cross would be pretty much number 1 on the list

And if that horse happened to be a 2 miler and you wanted to win an arkle youd send it to nicky henderson

I've been trying very hard to stick to TWAR so far this season for those with unknown targets but I can't help but think the Arkle is the only race Jonbon will turn up in.

Unless he is beaten on the way, I'd have to agree with you Lobos.. And I don't think he will be beaten upto the Fez.

Does JP have any other decent Novice Hurdlers from last season likely to go Chasing over the minimum distance?? Can't think of any.

Looking through the betting, only possibles I can see are Saint Roi and Brazil and b9th of those could stay hurdling.. but i dont think their target will affect where big Jon goes anyway.

Yeah, both are staying hurdling.

Arkle got to be the bet with him. Will be the target and to be honest if he's beaten by anything pre Cheltenham in a Novice Chase in England then he won't be good enough for any distance come Cheltenham anyway. So wouldn't worry about the any race side of things in that case.

Yeah, unless CH diverts or…. Jonbon gets beaten (no excuses) in the UK then you’d think he wasn’t good enough.
has a clear route to the Arkle, and not much at in GB to battle against. That’s probably a negative, one to watch out for, beating a bunch of trees and then coming up against Irish who could be battled hardened

I watched " The finishing Line" last night . Andrew Gilligan think's Jonbon will go to the Turner's.
Made for a trip and , J.P doesn't "like" ? / prefer ? the Arkle ??.... in his opinion.

As with EVERY Novice out there, Hurdlers and chasers, we'll not know where they'll end up until they've had a few runs. You pays your money and makes your choice.

Could go anywhere. We'll see him some time in November/December I suspect.
