2023 Novice Chasers

This was one of the key focus areas for the handicapping team at BHA HQ.
Trainers were complaining when their inferior horses went into graded races they became poorly handicapped because the superior horse didn’t come out of second gear and their horses were unfortunate enough to finish within 10l, if they put Calico up to 149 then they’ve made a mockery of the system and can expect graded races of 2 or 3 runner affairs for good, and who knows maybe the odd walkover.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for this one tomorrow…

Kind of doesn't matter though does it ?
It's not changed anything anyway.

Too many races and too many choices, and too few good horses.

Ground, scheduling, diesel costs who knows, some trainers seem to dream up any excuse not to run their horses….

it will make a mockery but surely they'd only have themselves to blame for exposing his true ability in a grade 2 when they could've went to the grand annual off 136.
If he is screwed by the handicapper he still has a very nice hurdle mark to make a mockery of

interesting.... jonbon 158 rpr calico 148.
calico southwell rpr adjusted to 143....

Downgraded to 155 and 144 already. So would have 12lbs to find on El Fab based on most recent showings.

I don't think it has been downgraded, I think they were the initial ratings :encouragement:
I think that they adjusted calico's southwell rating, shows just how flexible they can be with them.

Up +1 to 137 which is very sensible of them given the above.

Cash out has been greyed out for my gerri colombe banc bet on 365, can anyone confirm the same?

Antepost yes.

All novice markets suspended on Betfair - is it some kind of forfeit stage?
