Sir Gerhard has multiple options over both hurdles and fences at Cheltenham, but Mullins is favouring the three-mile Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase after the gelding made a triumphant seasonal bow in a beginners’ chase late last month.

He said: “His hurdle form is good enough to go anywhere, but at the moment I’d be thinking longer trips, just going that bit slower.

“Over a longer trip there’s more jumps and more opportunity to make a mistake, but I just think for him, with his lack of experience, we’ll possibly take a chance in the Brown Advisory. That’s the way I’m thinking at the moment anyway, but nothing is set in stone.”

I love Sir G. Happy with BANC as his target. It looks the weakest of the 3 Novice chases. Apart from Gerri, there's nothing that scares me.

Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole myself

hes had a terrible prep

Only one chase start and didn't jump very well

Also not certain to stay given how keen he was in the ballymore

Definitely not one for me

Gerri almost blue across the board again tonight, connection’s played a very clever game keeping expectations down from a hype point of view & Gordon has plotted his progress out perfectly with the bigger picture in mind.

As I touched on before there’s shades of Don Cossack’s plan about things which is understandable after Samcro & Envoi Allen’s early plateaued careers!

Blessing in disguise missing the Albert Bartlett last year, will do him wonders! That race tends to break a lot of horses and they never seem to fulfil whatever potential they went in with!

Quite a lot of success stories too Minella Indo, Allaho, Bobsworth etc

Might have to have a saver on Flanking Maneuver if he turns up here after todays run. Any comments after the race to if he’ll come over?

wary of the *bounce factor*

It'll be a double bounce as he still has to run again. To qualify.
That was his first start over fences.
Also not entered.

edit, sorry mate, thought this was NH chase thread :stupid:

He's not qualified the NHC somer, nothing to worry about, you've got yourself a great bet there! :applouse:

He's not qualified for the NHC so absolutely no chance he's going to go there now, given he has no entries and we are only 3 weeks away from the festival.

Gerri Colombe
Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, 5-2
He's done nothing wrong and we always knew he'd make a smashing chaser. He jumps great and you'd have to love the way he won at Sandown. I'm not sure the ground is as important to him as people seem to think, especially over three miles. He'll be fine on better ground over that longer trip.

Zero chance he goes there. The fact he's just too good isn't really fact, but not being qualified, is.

I think Gerri Colombe is at current prices, the nap of the week.

The Real Whacker and Thyme Hill aren't going to be beating him.
