2023 Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle

Surprised he's actually fav today but interested to see how he shapes. Think they've messed up his prep not going DRF and have no idea where to run him now. Won't be a handicap either way like, but AB or Ballymore still a complete guess and really not sure this will be a great AB trial!

Of all trainers, you can expect Gordon to tell us straight after today's race what the plan is. No it's or buts.

Oh interesting, has he been quoted saying something different this weekend?[/QUOTE]

Yep, Albert now apparently. Probably bolt up over two today and be aimed at the Supreme!

Is American Mike the only one running to win today? The others getting their fourth runs and, you’d have thought, not grade one quality.

Hope so. Don't want Hunters Yarn winning. He's my County Hurdle certainty!

The Big Doyen wouldn't qualify for any handicaps at this stage so I'd imagine he's there to run on merit. Actually had a few quid on him at 1000/1 on betfair for the supreme as that's his only entry (apologies not AB related)

edit: apologies he would qualify, thought he'd only had the 2 runs over hurdles this season.

I think the county is the plan for him.

Mike predictably outpaced over 2 miles

Not entirely sure who was backing an iffy jumping stayer in a 2 mile listed race but he somehow went off 11/8

He's really bad at getting himself in a good position to jump the hurdles

Possible he will be this seasons kilcruit and not live up to the hype

Yep, Albert it is. Happy with that run. That'll put him spot on.

Poor ride from Paul again winning too far. County chances up in smoke. No chance in any of the Novice Hurdles either. Tut, Tut

PP and 365 not so sure. Into 8/1 and 10/1 for the Ballymore respectively.

And Mullins says he’s good enough for a Supreme! He’s not trying to kid the handicapper.

I see he's out to 25's for the Albert which is good news for the trend followers.

He's only got 10 for the race so far. He definitely needs another one. One more for punters to get into the book....:biggrin-new:

Elliot has been consistent in that AM goes Ballymore. Another 5 furlongs of the Ballymore should be perfect. I did see the Irish Field article but I didn’t interpret the article in the same way. I think when he said ‘both’ horses would go the Albert Bartlett he was referring to FDC and TCB.

Don't see how you come to that conclusion at all.

Have another read and I think you may. The article was hopping about from horse to horse at that stage. Please note, I’m not trying to score points but I had to read it quite a few times. One minute he was talking about FDC and TCB and then it switches to AM and then his answers got conflated and I suspect a little mixed up. I suspect some poor editing might be at play here. I could of course be wrong (wouldn’t be the first time) but I don’t think so.

I have read it again and still can't see where you get Ballymore from. The comments are actually under the highlighted Albert Barteltt heading as well.
