Yes he won the bumper had a moment there

Point still stands its a race thats been won by plenty of future chasers so probably not a good idea to rule them out for that reasoning imo

You wouldn't describe him as a fluent hurdler but he has plenty in the tank…

Jumping was a bit iffy there for porticello but good engine

We'll he needs to improve his jumping but he's got one hell of an engine

We have to remember that is his first run out for a long time, giving weight and also racing against a lot of previous winners. Their is plenty of improvement to come from him

Porticello's jumping needs a lot of work. Was going away at the end though. The horse that unseat it's jockey was going well at the time also.

Looked like the first time Porticello had ever seen a hurdle most of the way round, seemed to settle a bit better in the latter stages though. Bags of improvement there, course and race didn't seem to suit at all. Promising but not one to get too carried away about at this stage, ran on well though.

Stronger pace, stiffer track will suit him, jumped better as it went on..nice enough

He’s won a listed race first time out this season against race fit winning rivals giving them 5lb. The race was a dawdle with a sprint down the home straight. He’ll be seen to much better effect in a faster race on a stiffer track.
he still looks very green and there’s improvement in his hurdling still.
he deserves to be triumph favourite at the moment.

Afraid I'm struggling to get excited about Porticello.

He found several different ways to jump a hurdle poorly which makes me think they might have a job on their hands sorting him out.

And he needed to be kept up to his work to go the pace when they quickened turning into the straight.

Finished well but looks like he will improve for further given time.

Three of the last 4 winners have been Irish and I'd be surprised if Porticello gets one back for the home team.

Afraid I'm struggling to get excited about Porticello.

He found several different ways to jump a hurdle poorly which makes me think they might have a job on their hands sorting him out.

I think he met the first 2/3 flights on a bad stride and had to shorten up and he ballooned at least one on the straight, probably a symptom of his French roots.
I've always believed that slow paced contests do not help novices, it's only when they hit racing speed do they take the obstacles well/properly, with an engine like that he clearly has huge talent but as everyone has noted he needs to improve his hurdling, but I'd put that down as a very encouraging debut...
