I'm yet to get involved with
The Bosses Oscar for the National Hunt Chase, as I have my doubts about him fitting the right profile for Gordon Elliott. I know
Saxon Warrior has done extensive work in the Gordon Elliott thread, which is fantastic, and even he notes that he needs to start sooner rather than later, but even if he did start next week he'd need to go some way to match the levels of his previous winners of the race.
Some of this information is just repeated from SW's thread, but I'm going to lay it out anyway:
Galvin - Second season novice - 8 Chase runs prior to his NH Chase win
Ravenhill - 6 chase runs + 7 P2P runs prior to his NH Chase win
Tiger Roll - 10 chase runs prior to his NH Chase win
Cause Of Causes - Second season novice - 10 chase runs prior to his NH Chase win
Chicago Grey - 9 chase runs prior to his NH Chase win
Whichever way you like to spin it, given the way Gordon campaigns his main NH Chase hope,
The Bosses Oscar will need 6-8 chase runs minimum from now until December (with the exception of
Cause Of Causes, the rest had a break from December at the latest, until the festival), and whilst this is a possibility none of the previous winners had started chasing this late on.
Personally I think the best way to go, as noted by
Lobos is the 'Any Race' bet at 14/1, as I can see him turning up at the festival, but for which race, is the actual conundrum.
