He usually has zero plans to run Novice Chasers in those races.

Check out the WILLIE MULLINS Diary in the MEMBERS DIARIES Section for all you need to know about handicap chases at the Festival and the type of horse Willie runs in them.

Yep, thanks Saxon - it's your brilliant work that made me aware that he hardly had any handicap chasers at all, let alone novices, which did surprise me when I read it.

I might be way off with this but I really like Gentleman De Mee especially if he goes chasing. To my eye he jumped his hurdles like a chaser a bit big so should improve for a fence. Was way too keen to do himself justice in the martin pipe were he tired to finish 10th. But he was clearly well thought of as he went off favourite for the race. His final start last season he got loose beforehand then totally missed the break yet still looked the winner turning in before tiring into 7th. I really think there's a massive engine in the horse and he could be anything. I accept he could be held back for a big pot in a handicap hurdle but think his future lies over 2 miles over fences and he could be anything. I requested a price last week and Hills offered 33s for the Arkle and 12s any race.

Hed definitely go well in a county hurdle or coral cup if he has matured mentally

Given willie has tonnes of top novice chasers wouldnt be surprised if he was kept to hurdles

Will be interesting to see if echoes in rain is good enough for a champion hurdle bid, another mare may be the only one who could beat her, could concertista be another possible runner ?

Yeah it's going to be fascinating how this Echo turns out this season, Concertista is one I never really liked or weighed up. Last season she was impressive but beating similar horses and not one IMO I have down as a open G1 winning material going forward.

Gentlemen De Mee one I have my eye on too. Stuck a few freebies on that 12/1 with Hills. I don’t think it’s a great price but seeing him backed the last times he’s ran indicates they seem to think they have a pot in him. I’d rather have him inside than not!

Pentland Hills (remember him?!) is going novice chasing this season apparently.

Asked to get him priced up for the Marsh a couple of months back (25's & 33's quoted) but was waiting on a company with cash out to price him up also. Think he needs beyond the minimum trip now personally, so wouldn't interest me for the Arkle.

Think Hendo will have Dusart for the Arkle, although he potentially could need further also, Pentland Hills for the Marsh & Craigneiche for the BANC. Might back them in an E/W trixie actually :highly_amused:

I asked the Twitter lad providing the Robcour information on whether they had a long term plan for Gin on Lime targeting the Arkle given the parallels with Put the Kettle on. He's responded now and said that is the long term aim but not sure he's good enough. He mentions that they fancy Magic Daze as their Arkle horse given the same allowances as PTKO.

An interesting thing for sure and I am leaning more towards the Mares Chase for Gin on Lime. Magic Daze not priced up for the Arkle but I think I will have to ask for a price just to see. Trainer/Connection thoughts a lot more valuable than little old me trying to unearth something under the Fat Jockey radar.

Pentland is over his tendon injury, but has had a minor set-back.
I wouldn't consider him for anything until we start to see entries.

Just coming on here to ask who is he and how reliable is he? Hope I'm not sounding daft or sound like a dick, just wasn't sure, if that makes sense?

@ruby_tuesday59

Posts a lot about HDB/Robcour amongst his stuff. Seems to add up what he says with regards to news and info etc

I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it but I’ve had Mister Coffey (25/1) and Farouk D’Alene (12/1) added to Sky bets TWAR market (7/1) and also to William Hills TWAR market at 16/1 for Mister Coffey and 12/1 for Farouk D’alene.

I think the 25/1 for Mister Coffey is ok value as he may turn out to be a very good chaser but not sure if he will be good enough for the festival graded races at the Festival. Farouk’s price is poor especially as he missed last year but I’m guessing it’s the Elliot factor keeping his odds low.

Magic Daze declared in a 2m 2 [SUP]1[/SUP]/2 f beginners chase at Galway 6/9/21.

Nice. Mares Chase hasto he a distinct option with Gin On Lime going Arkle. EW double anyone??
