Folcano and DDP both going off single figures I reckon come March if they get there. Handicapper hammered DDP before when in his novice chase season I think and could do it again. Davy was certainly up to his old tricks there.

Folcano might need a few pounds to get in. They will have to check his mark at some stage. Both with the right trainer and already qualified so I'm happy to take 25s

Ladbrokes are DDP 8/1 as well and Folcano 10/1, pure joke this year….:indecisiveness:

Just so I've got this right, 8/1 for a specific race, before he's been re-assessed by the Irish 'capper after todays performance, before the entries open for any of the festival handicaps, before the UK 'capper has taxed him, and it's still November right ?
8/1, righto...

Im not sure how "eye-catching" Folcano was?? He'd need to perform far better than he did in the MP when very well backed. He also disappointed in a couple of big handicaps when well backed. I'd be more inclined to look at Mars Harper who travelled into the race really well. I thought Lisa was messing around on the run-in & when it looked like she might lose out on top 6 she found a bit more. Elliott didn't mention MH for the Pertemps final but that wouldn't be a 1st. He may have 1 or 2 others for this race. Time will tell.

PS: Also had a pipe opener at Cheltenham finishing behind Campond who performed quite well in the Greatwood today.

Since the Gordon stable tour came out and mentioned Saint Felicien who I'm very high on, I know he didn't specifically mention a target but since he won't be a novice and is coming out of his juvenile season, I really do think he will be his county hurdle horse provided he makes it to the festival on a good mark

Folcano was hampered and fell in the MP so we can give a him a pass on that one - he's only had one other handicap run prior to today so don't think there's enough to make you worry there (he did flop that time, but think there was enough in today's run to suggest it's not a problem with big fields). I suppose it's how you view the run, Folcano wasn't positioned to suggest a win was the plan, but was kept up to enough work to qualify which is ideal imo. Mars Harper definitely travelled well, thought the horse was ridden to win initially but will rewatch to check the ride on the run in

Just came on to say this, maybe not so eloquently though. Was watching Mars Harper's entries after it's run at Cheltenham in October

What was the whole idea of running chemical energy in the 12.40 at naas today..he won at 2m 4f easy enough and today was 2miles he looks a level below my mate mozzie and so makes me think hes going to be plotted for something? Thoughts

Elliots said as much, its what i thought at the time to be fair, not his obvious route for the race but it made no sense to me

Emitom back out over fences at Hexham on Wednesday.

Given a chase rating of 143, after two runs over fences, both times probably over a shorter trip than he'd have liked but neither were without promise. Initially I was thinking one of the top end novice chases for the festival or even Aintree but with a rating of 143 surely a handicap could well be a serious option.

Joleg,
The other horse of interest thus far is Born Patriot 33/1

Yeah another one I noted after it's run behind Kansas City Chief at Cheltenham in October, and Fahey knows how to get one ready for the festival

Strangely the UK handicapper dropped Born Patriot 2lbs after his run in second in the Cheltenham qualifier. Tullybeg was dropped 4lbs. What was that the handicapper said recently!

Through the Tullybeg formline Edison Kent needs watching too. He was running a big race in the Punchestown qualifier at the weekend and Sean O'Keefe could have placed him wherever he wanted to. Unfortunately he was very badly hampered and pulled up as a consequence. I suspect Jessie will bring him over to qualify at Warwick in January rather than via Leopardstown. He may well need a few pounds too so he'll be trying somewhere.

Great info, thanks Spectre. Where can you find the information about Irish horses’ future ratings in UK?

Unfortunately you can't. The UK Handicapper will only give an Irish horse a UK mark if they have an entry to run here.

Bit of a long shot… no ordinary joe for coral cup. May be campaigned the same as dame de campaigned in 2019 for Henderson after racing in the handicap hurdle last Sunday. Just a thought

Yep, I like this shout. Will be interesting to see where he goes next as he can't go for the December mares race that ddc won (because he isn't a mare!)
