…after the early morning report (above), it’s been overcast, blustery but dry all day.
 
So .. silly question .. Fortescue and Eclair Surf are on the same Mark , which one will get in if only 1 place is available ??.

Basically a coin toss I think, some form of random selection as the handicapper didn't put up Eclair Surf's BHA rating today.
 
Slightly tangential from the National here, but would be interested to know peoples thoughts on the Irish National, especially as it seems all of Gordon's main hopes for the Irish National are now going to have the freshness taken off them at Aintree?

In the past few years, horses carrying over 11lbs have struggled considerably in the race. It looked to me that a horse like Fakir D'Alene could sneak in at the bottom of the weights? Currently my thinking would be that Asterion Forlonge would be the top weight in the race of intended runners.

….I expect somebody will be busy on the phone ringing the trainers of those still ahead of him on the card, asking if they intend to run.
 
I'd be surprised if Freewheelin Dylan makes the trip with Irish National only around the corner.

If he does and ground stays OK I'd take 66s :drunk:

All down to the weather according to the Trainer , want's a bit of juice in the ground . That's what i read .
 
….damp & grey but not raining here in Liverpool this morning.

The ground at Aintree is usually very lush, I’d imagine it’ll be fine for most.
 
Are we thinking now that the ground is going to be ok and not the slog that was feared. Forecast doesn't appear to bad.
 
Hasn't went live but I see in the promotions Sky are going 7 places

….doesn’t look like Commodore is taking the Topham option. Hoping the trainer thinks he might sneak in. Battleoverdoyen looks like one above him who is Topham bound but I can’t see any others (Roman de Sonaim, Discordantly, Mac Tottie).

…..grey morning with no real rain, just a few spots in the air. Actually brightening up a bit at the moment.
 
Sky have Gordon Elliott @ 1/2 to have a horse finish in the top 6 in the GN. That is a serious price.
