2022 Browns Advisory Novices (3m) Chase - ex RSA

If Venetia and Willies gdc both go 3m then Bob is gunna be very short. Anyone know anywhere that’s pricing up horse to go of the shortest price this year?

I still can't get my head around the GDC decision but there we are. Really strange. 2m3.5f for a horse that's best form is at 3m. Crazy.

I guess PT is on GDM then. Uh.

Haven't been keeping track of things the last few days, but I've always hoped that Willie would leave GDC in both races at the 6 day stage, Henry would take Bob out of the RSA at the same stage, then Willie would look at the race and confirm GDC for the RSA at the 48 hour stage... still a chance? :indecisiveness:

Who snaffled 25/1 for L'Homme Presse here?

Asking for my ego.

:highly_amused:

I'm just completely baffled by it all. Have tried not to get involved in too many Willie won't he debates, so just stayed steadfast in my belief that GDC comes here but feel a bit like an ostrich sticking his head in the sand ATM. Then again, I can't really cover him to any decent amount anyway with the way I bet so just gotta hope and what will be will be!

Exactly how I feel.
I only have GDC in this as singles, doubles, acca's etc...

Nothing I can do, but sit and wait.

I am also hoping that Willie keeps him in both at 6 day stage and HdB keeps BobO in the Turners ONLY

Fingers crossed!!

It’s incredibly frustrating I agree. I was far too flippant that he would run here and that would be that. Regardless of what ultimately happens I was wrong in that regard. Having said that, I still for the life of me can’t get my head around it for all sorts of reasons. Maybe nothing has actually changed but all the talk on the preview circuit has basically disregarded he’s even in here and it’s really starting to feel like a done deal.

I was the same. What baffles me even more is the preview circuit seems to be almost unanimous in Bob beating him in the turners, which id absolutely love tbf

Yeah him running in the turners has the potential to really f*** me in the arse as it could torpedo not 1 but 2 good bets that looked like they might otherwise be tap-ins :boxing: be some thrill at least, and even if bob can’t beat him, I’ll be cheering on the rest of the field vs him as punishment for deserting me in the RSA :devilish:

I’m holding out hope that BO being a talking horse again will sway them the other way. That being said, shit in one hand, hope in the other, see which one fills up first :biggrin-new:

Don't forget Bob could yet abscond to the other side :onthego:

Not sure there’s ever been a horse so many Fat Jockeys collectively have in the wrong race.
Who would have thought a horse who powered up the hill last year over 20f and followed that up with a
demolition of a G1 field over 3m at Punchestown would be dropping back to 19.5f a year later.
I’m staggered….

You aren’t the only one. All I can say is, if GDC does go Turners as it now looks like, I’ll be booing him at the start, and cheering Bob from the Guinness stand…

Listening to Barry Geraghty today on Off The Fence. Whilst making a case for him to win the Turners, saying how hard he hit the line at DRF over 2m5f … I mean … it’d be funny if it wasn’t actually happening.

Yeah, i really don't get the decision to go shorter race, especially if they see him as a future gold cup horse.

Oh how I would chuckle if Bob o beats Gdc in turners and I think he will ,for the life of me and my ante post vouchers I just can’t get my head around this one

I think when you read this back with hindsight, in a few years time, you'd think..... maybe my pocket was ruling my head?

Imagine looking at things fresh, right now, with no ante post bets..... is Bob Olinger CLEARLY a better chaser over the intermediate trip than Galopin des Champs?

I can't see how anyone would come to that conclusion.

Ice - you don't get the decision? He's literally ran at the intermediate trip twice, looking like an absolute world-beater in one of those runs, and you don't get it?

Future Gold Cup horse has nothing to do with it does it? What's Bob Olinger's ceiling? A future Ryanair horse at best?

When GDC won at Christmas, I messaged everyone who'd care that it was the best fencing debut I'd ever seen. Fell in love with him instantly.

By going to the Turners it now feels like he's broken up with me by sending me a video of him noshing off the prick who used to rob my lunch money at school.

The thought process is this season they have been fighting and wrestling him to settle (which is hard to pick up if not on the horse). Not ideal in a 3m race

So instead the plan is to let him in an Allaho type style use his main asset to attack fences over the shorter distance.

He is only a 6 year old too others they went the longer route who have a similar running style haven’t worked out well.

I think a lot of us have just got his target wrong - we should be crying out for this clash.

I think what’s hard to take is Mullins line historically has always been to run his horses in the race they have most chance of winning, and for me in this specific case he isn’t applying that logic.
And yes, there’s a fair chunk of pocket talk in
my opinion…
