2017 RSA Chase

I've got him at 12/1 also got him in plenty of multiples.

One of my ew Yankees is:
Native River 12/1 won
ADO 12/1
Jenkins 20/1
Don Poli 25/1 grand national

I'm praying for a miracle recovery from Jenkins!

Love that. I've backed every single one of them too already unfortunately for you.

Don Poli in the national (if Chelt goes well) could be my biggest ever bet haha

Don Poli would already be my biggest ever winner. He is made for Aintree.... Surely?!

You won't get an ounce of negativity from me.

I have backed him for the GC at 50s because if he turns up that price is insulting.

Agreed. If it rained on the Thursday evening DP would be heading towards single figures in the Gold Cup

When they bleed it affects there breathing (explains why ADO stopped suddenly) and horses who have bled in the past are prone to bleeding again.

Just added a bleeding double - Ado & MOT in gold cup.

Mouse Morris on ADO today:

Trainer Mouse Morris said: "He's fine and seems none the worse, thankfully. He's never done it before, so we're hoping it's a one-off.

"It's a shame as he was going well at home going into the race - he was flying - and on form he'd have been bang there, but that's racing.

"We have the option of going to Naas or Leopardstown, or we could go straight to Cheltenham. We'll talk to the owners and see which way they want to go.

"He'll probably have an entry in the two-and-a-half (JLT Novices' Chase), but the RSA is his race, I'd say."

Nice little Novice Chase at Warwick today involving Champers On Ice, Pobbles Bay, Captain Chaos, American and Mystical Knight.

The head of the RSA market is dominated by the Irish right now and COI is probably the leading UK challenger right now (around 7th in the betting). I'd expect him to take this race especially if the RSA is the aim but it won't be easy with pretty much all the field showing good form and in with a chance today.

Ideally for me a strong staying on run in 2nd/3rd today for COI just lacking the pace of some will mean they switch their attention to the 4miler :D

Me and Might Bite aren't friends with you anymore.

I think Pobbles Bay has a good chance today, I want COI to be chasing him home one-paced so I can load up on the Moon Racer, COI Day One Double :D

Anyone have thoughts where Ballyoisin goes if anywhere ? won over 2 miles today tried 2 miles 5f on chasing debut ? His 3 mile P2P win at Belclare includes Best Mate among previous winners.

Might get into Novices Handicap ?

Yes I think 2m 4f on quicker ground than today would be ideal. He looks a nice prospect.

Townshend was touted as one that would want further in time wasn't he last year? Certainly wasn't near the top of the pecking order anyway.

Bookies had it wrong, plenty thought Ballyosiin should have been fav and got backed in like that was a case from a gambling yard. I wouldn't go overboard. Nice horse, not even on my Cheltenham radar.

Townshend should be bang on the money to get in Novices Handicap Chase. Ballyoisin jumped brillantly but agree might not go anywhere near the Festival. Not on my RSA radar either.

Looks like your double might just be on Kev

Just watched the race back and was hoping to be sold on American for the RSA but I wasn't. JUmped well and got a really good ride. Didn't steal the race or anything but I certainly think it helped add to the visual impression. Interesting that the 2015 winner of the same race ended in up the 4 miler (Sego Success) and last years 2016 winner was Black Hercules who was a long-time fav for the 4 miler before the late switch to the JLT after Killultagh Vic's injury.

Ive been struggling to find a winner for this race. I like Might Bite but it all comes down to how he comes back from the fall. Looking at the rest I fancy Coney Island. He looked very good in the Drinmore when he beat Anibale Fly and jumped great in when he lost to Our Duke. He's shown he can handle a fight and I love that trait in a horse. Looked good on the ground last spring, looks an overall good bet at around 12/1. Anyone else share this view?

I like him too, and have backed him, but there is a possibility that he goes for the JLT instead.

Coney Island tipped on sportinglife yesterday

There isn't much between Bellshill and CONEY ISLAND on the form book and, in light of their respective prices for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham, Eddie Harty's charge rates a fantastic bet at 12/1 (general price) for the staying novice chase crown.

He's always looked a nice prospect but only really announced himself on the big stage when battling to a half-length second behind Willie Mullins' charge in the Grade One novice hurdle over three miles at Punchestown last April.

That must have filled connections with hope ahead of a novice chasing campaign and the six-year-old hasn't let them down, shaping with immense promise on his debut in this sphere when second to Haymount in November.

Haymount, subsequently second to Bellshill himself, showed the better turn of foot to score by three and a half lengths on that occasion but Coney Island has built on that performance with two excellent efforts at the highest level since.

Firstly, he oozed class when beating Anibale Fly to win the Drinmore at Fairyhouse, while his most recent outing at Leopardstown will hopefully have made a man of him, having had to settle for second.

He jumped wonderfully for Barry Geraghty over Christmas and was only narrowly outpointed by the year-older Our Duke and if anything it was an improvement on the bare form he'd shown over two and a half miles in winning his Grade One.

Stepped up to three miles for the first time over fences, he was coming back again at the line having been headed so clearly doesn't mind a fight and those battling qualities, combined with his latent talent and jumping accuracy, make him a sumptuous proposition for his maiden trip to Cheltenham.

We can fully expect Coney Island to receive an entry for the JLT Novices' Chase as well, and he's no bigger than 14/1 for that alternative engagement, but connections would be wise to avoid clashing with the much speedier types such as Yorkhill and Buveur D'Air, who wouldn't look out of place in the Arkle.

There have been five Irish-trained winners of the RSA Chase in the last 10 years and it looks like being another strong assault on the race, with Might Bite the shortest of the Brits (also around 12/1) and he took a crashing fall at Kempton when last seen.

Might Bite's stablemate Whisper beat Clan Des Obeaux at Cheltenham when giving him 5lb on New Year's Day and, given his experience in big races, the battle-hardened nine-year-old would have to merit respect if taking this route, rather than the JLT.

Either way, 4/1 market leader Bellshill looks worth taking on, despite his unbeaten record over the larger obstacles so far this term.

He's been well held on his two previous visits to Prestbury Park - finishing 10th of 23 in the Champion Bumper won by Moon Racer and 13th of 14 in last year's Sky Bet Supreme - and there's no getting away from the fact his very best form is on deep winter ground.

Coney Island blossomed in the spring last year and, with his trainer already talking in terms of future Cheltenham Gold Cups for the son of Flemensfirth, now looks the ideal time to get him on side before running plans for some of his potential rivals becomes a little clearer.
