2017 Cheltenham JLT

Bit harsh on the Top Notch form, 5th in a CH is better than a lot of the rivals have achieved - easy to say with a 20/1 slip :highly_amused:. The price now looks silly though, for all that I like him.

What are the chances that Bellshill runs in this race (obviously if Yorkhill moves) ... 5/1 NRNB doesn't strike me as good value, 12s is best price but obviously no concession... Anyone covering? Would anyone fancy him?

At the start of the season Patrick Mullins was pretty adament on the JLT being the ideal distance for Bellshill. He said 3miles really stretched him and felt he was running on empty in the Aintree and Punchestown races.

Hmmm. Well that is intersting. I don't know if I'd be happy sat with Bellshill at 5s.

I want Yorkhill to ruuuuuun

I've put 1 point at 77/1 on Bellshill JLT / Might Bite RSA double with boyle.

I can afford the 1 point hit if yorkhill runs instead (fingers crossed) but feel like both Bells and MB would both shorten to fav if this switch happened ...

More risk that 5s nrnb but seems a good price to my little eye

I would love Yorkhill to be supplemented into the CH and Bellshill to run here, however don't see it. Whisper will place is the biggest guarantee IMO.

I'd have to consider Might Bite switching to this. I think an aggressive ride on the speed over 2m4f suits him far better than the 3m slog in an RSA.

I can't see it happening though .... Kevin Blake makes that point about thistlecrack ... but it won't happen? If he was in this I'd back him though. I think he has star quality

Agreed. I seem to be alone in thinking he was cooked at Kempton.

I just couldnt agree that Mite Bite was cooked at Kempton, what is the basis for this opinion, generally interested, not having a go, I love to hear opinions and reasons that are different from the general consensus

I am with you Billymag, I re watched the race from Boxing day yesterday and he travelled like a dream. Never came off the bridle all the way until he was asked to stretch which he started to do, and the horses behind were paddling half a mile out. The fall looked like he forgot to shorten up and adjust his stride coming into the fence, error of judgement more than anything.

Again as Billy says not having a go just would like to hear the angles. Because I think with a good gallop this horse could be anything on decent ground over a trip. :encouragement:

Disclosure - I'm on Might Bite at 12s for the RSA so have a vested interest (with Whisper, Coney Island (and in RSA) and Charbel for the JLT).

I've seen nothing to worry me from a stamina POV. If anything I think DJ messed him up at Kempton by asking him to do something at the last that he hadn't done for the last 2.9 miles which all seemed to go well. My worry would be that he's a big horse that doesn't always look organised so I suspect Nico will be better off firing him all the way round rather than letting the horse make up his own mind on those undulations.

Top Notch on the other hand - wish I was on for the JLT at nice prices. I can see him popping away efficiently all the way round and we know the course will suit.

Welcome on board squiggsy.

Cant argue with Might Bite at that price.

:D I think I formed that view from observing DJacob. I just interpreted his decision to shake him up as a sign that he thought the horse was about to fall into a hole. Given the lead why would he not have just popped the last instead of stoking his horse up? I suppose I have probably a built in bias that a lot of last fence falls are down to horses being tired rather than always being the jockeys fault. I know the last bit is not general concensus.

Snaffled some 33/1 on Disko straight after the Flogas with Boyle... lovely. Not NRNB but I think ADO will be Meade's runner in the RSA ... pleased with that! :devilish:

What a round of jumping for a novice. He was flawless. Nice form boost for Coney Island too

Absolutely brilliant from Disko there, very impressive round of jumping and surely he goes for this rather than the RSA? Well impressed with the horse there might have a few quid on

Noel Meade said he will defo be on the boat, either the 2m5 or 3m race. He'll speak to the owners.

Gotta be this though... huge player ... I did just take 12s NRNB with PP just in case, but 2 pt ew at 33/1 in this is much more exciting!
