Champ gets a low profile start tomorrow. Been pointed out on twitter McManus probably has been sitting on that name.

Could be useful, however if he is it is unlikely they will let him line up in the Bumper
McManus takes a similar view to Gigginstown with the Cheltenham Bumper
Neither of them have allowed their best Bumper horses to run in it in the past

Carter Mckay has shortened up today - 12s generally now so joint second fav with Ballyward. Getabird has also shortened up - 4s from 5s.

I think the 14/1 is a decent price. All of the Irish dogs were barking that he was best of Mullin's Bumper horses before his debut at Christmas. I know that Peter (Fahey) really fancied Bakmaj that day. He was sold on for a nice sum to Barry Connell and then came out to win his bumper fairly easily; so much so they are talking of taking him to Cheltenham (33/1 is not a bad e/w price). There's only a couple of winners bumpers to go before Cheltenham but, seeing as one is 2m 3f at Naas and the other is on 26th February which is getting close, both horses may well go straight there.

anyone heard anything about REDHOTFILLYPEPPERS for this race?

Storm Home has been introduced into the betting at 10/1 for Colin Tizzard and Potts. He was in the process of (possibly) beating Getabird in his PTP before falling at the last. They paid £130K for him and he's out of Kings Theatre.

Runs this sunday at punchestown in the mares listed bumper. Dunsdon booked to ride again

I wouldn't back this horse for that reason. I think they've confirmed they'll go for the race and the owner will ride. Not having a go at him, entitled to do what he wants, I'd do the same... but I wouldn't want my money on.

We've been here before with Dunsdon, he had a Grand National fancy quite a few years ago that he kept riding...badly. Like Kev says he has every right to ride it, but what a reason not to back it!

Like Ballyward in the Bumper, taken 14's.

Is Blow By Blow likely to turn up in this? I am well aware that Gigginstown don't like the race, but a second season bumper horse effectivly, maybe they'll feel they have nothing to lose? 14/1 NRNB with Sky.... A certainty to go off shorter even if it was his first run of the season based on last years form against Death Duty?!

I am going to back it, lay off for a free bet if he does actually run. 14s way too big.

**just realised before I placed the bet, I backed him at 12/1 for any race** Might just let that run now instead, but still think it is a risk free kinda bet!

365 have taken no chances... 12s nrnb :triumphant:

Potentially interesting race at Naas on Saturday. WPM has both Carter McKay and Next Destination entered and hopefully at least one of those two will take on West Coast Time.

Wasn't the plan for Western Ryder to go straight to the festival?

Ruby's last 5 rides in the Bumper have finished in the following positions, at these prices:

2016: 3rd 16/1
2015: 10th 14/1 (bellshill)
2014: 2nd 7/2
2013: 1st 25/1
2012: 3rd 12/1

Patricks rides have finished in the following places
2016: 12th 10/1 (Augusta Kate was ridden by Townsend)
2015: PU 7/1
2014: 4th 13/2
2013: 8th 9/1
2012: 1st 16/1 (champagne fever)

Not a bad record for Ruby, and certainly no negative that he doesn't get first pick.

Good Stats FM :encouragement:

I'm happy to wait on that basis.

Wasn't the plan for Western Ryder to go straight to the festival?

Yep RP 1 Jan

WESTERN RYDER, who won a Listed bumper at Ascot before Christmas, is likely to head straight to Cheltenham for the festival's championship edition, his trainer Warren Greatrex has outlined.
Well thought of by Greatrex, the five-year-old won easily at Ffos Las in May, but was turned over in a Market Rasen bumper in November.
He bounced back to win nicely under Gavin Sheehan at Ascot last month and is a general 25-1 for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March.
"I think we'll go straight there," said Greatrex, who trains the son of Westerner for a syndicate that includes top golfers Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke.
"He's come out of the Ascot race well and we don't need to run again. Gavin said he had loads left at Ascot and he's tough, a hard horse with a turn of foot.
"I don't really like the Cheltenham race, but I think it's right up his street."
