2016 Mares Hurdle

You were right LR......yes the first day acca seemed to good to be true and it was:sorrow:

Genuinely in shock Iain... My only savior is my covering bet which included VVM in place of Annie and placed at a time when Champion Hurdle was NRNB so still a nice treble on as VVM is in at 12/1 and 8/1.

Would much rather have seen Faugheen and Annie run though

Paddy Power 7/2 Annie Power for the Mares, VVM 6/4.
That AP price is standout when the rest of the industry go 5/4-6/4, how come ?

Is Annie's good enough to win the CH or the WH. I would say no to both, will this be her best shot to have a go at the CH in Rich Ricci's eye's, possibly? Is she good enough to win the WH in his eyes, I would say no after last time against MOT ( I believe Thistlecracks form is far better over hurdles than MOT ) I think he will want that fest win to her name and the best chance will be in this race

If she goes for the CH then she must be good enough, WM knows whats best for his horses.

I think as well, who's decision is it actually going to be, willies, mr Ricci or in fact Mrs Ricci, has been well stated in the past that it is her horse after all, me personally thinks she has to go for the mares, and I can't be biased as i have no ante post riding on her whatsoever, i just want to see her get that festival win, which for me is the mares, and there is no shame in winning the mares, and it sounds a lot better the 2nd in the CH or WH even though the prize money suggests otherwise

Not necessarily LR. Can you honestly say that after one run against 2 other low class mares she is good enough to win a CH. She will be taking on battle hardened horses who have been campaigned for the CH, if he runs her it will be to have a runner in it and also as stated it may be his last chance to give it a go and see what happens because to be fair she's owes nothing to anyone

Willie didnt seem to know what was best for Artic Fire at Christmas.

Here's an interesting thought which is probably unlikely but, what if they dropped Vautour in the Champion Hurdle??

He probably won't admit it but i'm sure willie thought he may have a world hurdle horse in Arctic Fire, first 2 runs of the season over 2m 4f then a dismal display over 3m which wasn't down to the trip it just wasn't a going day, but then put his best performance of the season in when 2nd to Faugheen, i would have to imagine it could be hard for willie with a horse like him, played 2nd fiddle to hurricane fly the straight away to Faugheen after that, the horse is formidable in his own right but would never beat Faugheen and willie knows that which is why I believe he tried him over further to give him another option to come out of the shadow of his stable mates and get the credit he deserves which hopefully the horse will do now by making the most of Faugheens absence

Being contrary I have now backed Annie for the Mares. Also VVM for Ryanair. Later probably unlikely but still think they will want a win at the festival for AP.

Annie Power continues to shorten for the Mares, plot thickens.....

I have a fairly substantial treble on with Min, Douvan and VVM... Should the first 2 oblige i will be looking for some cover in this race. Polly Peachum is a certain danger and was a cover for me last year along with Glenn's Melody.

Anyone any other fancies in this race which they feel would be worth a cover?

I like Tara Point DeeBee but who knows if she retains her ability
