2016 Supreme Novices

Are there any Min acca backers left after the Faugheen departure?

Me :-) After getting on the 4fold at 70/1 mid December and watching it crash to sub 10s by Mid January, my only concern at that point was whether Annie went to the Mares or the WH.. given that RR had a ready made replacement in VVM i thought to put on the 4 fold with VVM in Annies place given that she was 8/1 (and 12/1 at PP) at the time... Fortunately the CH was NRNB by this point, so i am now on a treble with Min at 7/4, Douvan at 4/6 and VVM at 12/1, 8/1 and 11/2

i'm big on a Min 25-1/Douvan 3-1 Double & Min 10-1/Douvan 5/2/Limini 6-1 Treble!

faugheen and annie have killed alot!

Has this ever happened before...late switch or just shaking the tree ?

I believe Ruby has said since on ATR he is leaning towards Min, slightly strange given the numerous times I have read how everyone at Closutton thinks highly of Min and that 'he is the real deal' only for Ruby to say he is leaning towards Min, of course on the positive side Yorkhill could be impressing at home hence the slight wobble

Connection are said to be buzzing about Yorkhill, I backed him for this ages ago then resigned myself to the idea that he was to be aimed at the Neptune. I think there could be a few surprises given how many horses have been supported based on very soft ground performances

I'm not massively surprised by the Yorkhill plunge, unbeaten included a G1 Tolworth (though I thought he should have gone clear at the time) where the third has hacked up in an ultra competitive handicap since, he has a win on decent ground and another win in a bid field, he ticks all the boxes !

I think the media furore around Mullins will skewer prices occasionally, Min I think was too short too soon on what he had achieved (though the form keeps standing up) and that meant others were bigger than they should be.
This week we've seen an Altior plunge and now Yorkhill, positive messages about Supasundae, Buveur D'Air appearing to be another with a good chance, reports that Tombstone is flying at home, there really shouldn't be a 7/4 fav in here !!!

Yorkhill runs in the Tolworth on Sat and is very highly regarded by the Mullins stable.I'm thinking with Bellshill earmarked for the Neptune this Wylie horse must be Supreme bound and in the hope of a win on Sat ive taken 12/1 for the Supreme.Only problem is,a certain stablemate has been backed off the boards for the opener of the festival!

Todays sea of blue for Yorkhill has ignited a nice ante post bet for me that I thot was a lost one.

Yeah Mr McG, at least it looks like we'll get a run for our money now, still got Min to beat but its a live bet again ha!!

Apparently Ruby's waiting to see what the ground's like before making his choice, Faster ground for Min & slower ground for Yorkhill.

We're getting a fair bit of rain here in Gloucestershire tomorrow but that's it!, for the next week or so it's dry with some sunshine.

If the plunge on Yorkhill has anything to do with the weather then it may be misguided, I believe that Ruby will stay with Min.

Timeform

Supreme Hurdle: MIN ran a good time when winning at Punchestown in January, but YORKHILL (on heavy going) and ALTIOR have run at least as quickly, and the latter put in an impressive sectional (73.55s from three out, compared to Faugheen’s 73.10s later on the card) at Kempton on Boxing Day. Advice: win lay Min.

Yes Altior incredibly impressive sectional which doesn't factor in he was switched wide into the straight and was eased after the last a lot sooner than Faugheen.

Altior will get taken off his feet in the always strongly run Supreme. Whatever kick he's got will be completely negated. I see this as similar to Irving's performance against Vautour, he'll have nothing left when Min strings them out.

Loking forward to it, always a great tactical race.
