2016 Arkle Trophy Novices Chase

Sorry Ista - I meant to say it wouldn't surprise me if 8 didn't show.

I'm thinking along the same lines of trying to get an each way selection against the fav ante post but struggling to identify definite runners.

Again FM, that's the problem with the expanded festival, good horses have several options and they generally enter half a dozen and announce decision a few days before, so finding an each way against the fav is very difficult.
L'Ami Serge is the obvious danger but I think he's perfect for the JLT though Hendo has said his preference is the Arkle, but there's enough doubt there and that should be enough to stop people wading in.
I'll need some NRNB insurance before investing....

if geraghty was hendos no1 lami and vaniteux would be split. as things stand daryl will ride lami and nico vaniteux.

Douvan most impressive horse this weekend so far.

Poetry in motion from Douvan...2nd leg of the Mullins 4 timer on day 1 looks a formality...I'd love to see it come in for all who have done the 4 timer..

Douvan jumped really nicely today. What will his SP be on the day, is 1/3 a possibility?

Sprinter Sacre was 8/11F I believe, this beast could be the best horse in training.

What a race we have in store next year when Douvan takes on the likes of Un De Sceaux, Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy in the Queen Mother, will be right up there with one of the best divisions in racing, we're all raving about this years GoldCup and the 3 mile+ chasers but the 2 mile chasing division next year is going to be excellent, not even at Cheltenham 2016 year and my appetite for Cheltenham 2017 is already strong...!!

Douvan and Un De Sceaux would be great gjt but I think the other two may be retired after this years race, in my opinion they are past their best, we shall see.

I think they have one more season in them each at least, they're both 10 years of age now, sprinter hasn't done a whole lot of racing for his age but of course we all know that was due to his setbacks, sire de grugy has thrived this season, somewhere near to if not matching his best form that he showed when dominating the division 2 seasons back, I'm hopeful for a great race next year but Douvan would be the winner for me out jumping UDS

I love UDS but have to concede Douvan looks a monster, could probably win either champion hurdle or champion chase next season.

Yes - as Ista has pointed out only Moscow has been able to win at 11 in recent times.

Douvan is a magnificent beast though.

Robbie Power

"He's a lot better than that (run at Leopardstown). When he goes to the racecourse he leaves everything on the racecourse and when he went to Navan, he was very impressive, but he beat a horse rated 140 by 41 lengths and went a proper gallop all the way," Power told At The Races.

"I just think he left the Leopardstown race in Navan. He's a horse that needs plenty of time between his races.

"He'll probably go to Navan for the Grade Two Flyingbolt Novice Chase.

"We know he stays well and I think the Powers Gold Cup in Fairyhouse at Easter would be an ideal race for him.

Ive just taken 7/1 about Shaneshill in the without market as ive a terrible feeling Wullie is going to put Wylie's horse up against Douvan for the 2nd festival in a row....a terrible feeling because I had Shaneshill as a cert for the JLT but a subsequent entry in this wks lightning chase at Donny has put severe doubts in my mind as to where Shaneshill is going to run at the festival.A shame for Wylie if his horse is the lamb to the slaughter again to the mighty Douvan!

^Where KVic goes is the key. If he runs in RSA then Shaneshill will be in JLT.

Yeehaa..if KV goes JLT can you see them running Shaneshill as well...its got to have a better chance of beating KV here rather than Douvan in Arkle.Wylie will be sick if Wullie sends him to Arkle!!

I agree with Yeehaa - the JLT looks the obvious race but with Townend in the plate.
