2015 Triumph Hurdle

Barry G rides Peace & Co.

Are you sure OV,? Munir has Jacob on a retainer, hence the Gitane de Berlais ride on Sat. I hope you're right though, as good as DJ is I think BG is better, I don't think anyone has a record to equal Geraghty in the Triumph have they? Considering I have a sizeable bet on P & C at a decent price he would be my choice.

I think OV is right.

I am pretty sure Jacob only gets on when the stable jock not available - Ruby could have ridden GDB if he wanted. Daryl is making the most of it and seems happy with life as a No 2!

Barry rode Peace & Co last day at Cheltenham and did a great job settling him. Top Notch is theirs too so probably still a decent spare going !

Does anyone know if Brian Ellison's "Seamour" will be running in this?

welcome loveracing - so do I :)

To answer your question - dont know but is entered.

Interesting horse too... beat Pain Au Chocolat who won twice since and is half the price.

Hi Mayo and thank you.

He won that race going away. I believe it was his hurdling debut and first time on turf.

50-1 makes more appeal than PAC 20-1.

Welcome Love Racing - good find.

Just had a look on the Betfair community forum and someone there has posted that Jacob has link with Munir rather than a retainer, giving him, as Old Vic and Mayo said, the spare ride if stable jockey not available, I suppose he is hoping it may become a retainer if he keeps getting the job done.

Yep. I prefer BG but after the way 2013-14 finished for him could begrudge Daz Jacob whatever comes his way. Geraghty did get Peace & Co settled the last day but will be interesting to see if they make more use of him in the Triumph.

I would expect more use to be made of him but I would think that will depend on the ground, maybe he could do a Faugheen or Vautour, blast out and run the rest of the field into the ground, or maybe try to do that and set the race up nicely for something else.

Gordon Elliot said on ATR that Vercingetorix will need to run well on Sunday to book his Triumph hurdle place, may be worth looking for a double for him to win on Sunday then go to the Triumph, won't be 20/1 if he wins well. May be some of those bets around for the big chase events at the weekend too.

Ruby

My afternoon starts aboard Kalkir in a Grade 1 hurdle for juveniles. He was most impressive on his Irish debut at Fairyhouse, but was then disappointing when beaten by Fiscal Focus at Leopardstown subsequently.

I have no explanation for that and think it was simply a blip. He is working especially nicely now and I’m more than hopeful Kalkir will get back on track.

Hope you are loaded up Liam.

Ruby must be getting a bit fed up at not having shout on all horses at Willies.

Get paid Tuesday already had a few bob on it. Hopefully still be 8's then. Got Triumph covered Top Notch 16's Hargam 25's Petite Parisienne 25's and just waiting for Chartbreaker now at 33's Hopefully he runs in Adonis Hurdle.

Great shout Liam

Well done Liam!

Has anyone started to think Mullins may have too many horses in training? How can he keep every one of them 100%?

Richi said Kalkir missed some training prior to his previous run.

Donn added Hargam during the week

Hargam

Hargam put up a really nice performance to win the Triumph Hurdle Trial at Musselburgh on Sunday. JP McManus’ horse was a 4/11 shot, he was fully expected to win the race, but he still enhanced his Triumph Hurdle claims with the performance that he put up.

He was just about flawless. He travelled really well through the race, his jumping was fluent and accurate with the exception of the first flight, he moved into the race effortlessly, he eased to the front at the second last flight and he won by six lengths, unextended, in a good time, just 0.18secs/furlong slower than Racing Post standard.

A winner over a mile and a half on the flat for Alain de Royer-Dupre, and a close-up fourth in a listed race over nine furlongs, this was the first time that he had encountered good ground over hurdles and, a son of Sinndar, it is no surprised that he was able to put up the best performance of his career on it. On his debut over hurdles, in a Grade 2 contest at Cheltenham’s November meeting on soft ground, he went down by just three parts of a length to soft-ground horse Golden Doyen. On his second, back at Cheltenham in December, he battled on well to beat Karezak, after which he was also noted as a Horse To Follow. This was just his third run over hurdles and it was his best. He remains highly progressive.

It is probable that he will progress again between now and Cheltenham. He is obviously in good hands with trainer Nicky Henderson and, although Henderson also has Triumph Hurdle favourite Peace And Co in his yard, you can be sure that Hargam will be trained to the minute for the Triumph. He is proven at Cheltenham and he should get the good ground that obviously suits him well for the Triumph. He is a big player in the race now.

Impossible to keep them all 100% but Mullins attrition rate is a lot less than the master of seven barrows
