2015 Ryanair Chase

Backed Raj when he won at Cheltenham and think he could be on the premises tomorrow.

Ballycasey and Balder hype horses. Ptit Zig is marginaly better than Josses Hill.

Tizzards horse for the forecast.

In the words of the great Meatloaf ... two out of three ain't bad

As of today I have started to look into the Ryanair and I am trying to oppose favourite as usual.

Has anyone considered Balder Success in this race? He has won all his chases in and around two and half miles. He doesn't seem to get on with Sandown but has won a few over 2m and ran well /placed in the rest. 12-1 seems generous.

I can't see him going off that price if he beats Ptit Zig over the weekend if they run, tough ask though

I will be gutted if he wins now.

"I'm thrilled to bits with that," said Hutchinson. "It's been at the back of our minds since the start of the year that a step up in trip might suit him well, and it's been the making of him. Kempton was a weak assignment but it gave him confidence and now he's fulfilling the hopes we always had of him."

King added: "I'm both relieved and thrilled. That was just what I wanted to see and probably a little better than I expected. The owners are away, but I'm sure it will be the Ryanair next.

"He's in his comfort zone again. Over two and a half miles they just go half a stride slower early on, those good two milers were just getting him at it and taking him out of his comfort zone."

Balder Succes has run at Cheltenham three times but is yet to complete the course and King said: "I'm fairly comfortable with taking him back to Cheltenham. In the Triumph there was a false start and he completely boiled over and fell at halfway.

"Then on his second start over fences it was one of those low sun days when they didn't take the fences out, but he was bolting up when he came down."

All genuine excuses. Seemed to have been going well last time before he fell.

Ma Filleule the one to take out of this for The Ryanair to my mind. She seems to go up a couple of gears in the spring and will improve for better ground.

Did someone here mention Ballnagour?

Ignore his last run in the Hennesy, clearly not his trip and ground. 33/1 on good is a great e/w bet.
Looks like Pipe is targeting him at this race now Dynaste is out. Well the Fest always seem to be his target!

He was well fancied in 2013 7/2 and then won the Bryne last next year by 8L.

Plus ahe was ring rusty having been off for a while, Hendo said before the race that they had to get a run into her whatever happens.

Saw that this morning. The Holywell/Ma Filleule form line from last years three mile handicap looks a good bit better than a week ago.

Whats with all the movement in the market today?

looks like PP have decided Champagne Fever is going for the two mile option with Boston Bob being Mulllins runner in the Ryanair.

You could be right OV, I suppose their thinking would be with Cue Card blazing a trail it will bring BB's stamina into play, my money would still be on him not catching Cue Card, but that depends how much ability he's retained at this distance.

I have always seen BB as a stayer and just can't imagine him sticking to the pace of a Ryanair.

Funny horse that I never get right - won the Melling last year so must have some toe.

Two others staked their Ryanair claims at Ascot later that afternoon, with Balder Success coming out on top of the mare Ma Filleule. Although the race rather fell apart, there was a lot to be positive about in the two performances, Balder Success showing conclusively that around two-and-a-half miles is after all a more suitable trip than two miles for him, Ma Filleule right back on track after not being seen to advantage in two outings in the autumn. Although she has her work cut out to turn round placings, Ma Filleule isn't without hope of doing so, given the way she came to herself in the spring last year. Although she is still in the Gold Cup, her trainer Nicky Henderson suggested the Ryanair was Ma Filleule's likely target.

I think with the run under her belt now, which Hendo was very keen to get, coupled with better ground MF must be a great ew bet, providing she still gets the allowance in the Ryanair, I'm not sure about that.
