Twinlight ?

Welcome on board Lessey.

Thanks for the Welcome both.

I've got two schools of thought over the entries of CF and BC this weekend...

Firstly...It wouldn't surprise me if CF didn't run at all, just in as a backup for BC in case he misses both appointments as I saw some stat somewhere about Mullins always liking to leave CF fresh (don't quote me). BC will definitely run in one, my guess would be Gowran as a more gentle warm up after being wrongly thrown into a G1 at 2miles LTO.

Secondly...it's an audition process for the festival. Both tackle around 2 and a half miles and assuming both run well then it gives the option of sending CF to the QMCC and having BC as a live bullet in the Ryanair.

CF has a huge chance in the QMCC with dodging bullets the only other fit and in form contender at the head of the market. Twinlight doesn't do it for me, I think Sprinter Sacre's last run would be enough to hold twilight and SS will come on for that.

I'll be backing BC for the Ryanair again before the weekend and CF and SS for the QMCC

Ballycasey declared at Ascot

Taken 9/2 about the mare

Might be a few of those double bets available for this then Cheltenham tomorrow could get decent price on any fancy

I wouldn't mind one of those doubles bets on BC if they do go flying around.

I also believe its significant that Ruby will be at Ascot to ride BC as opposed to Gowran with CF with Willie only having the one runner at Ascot

I usually find the best offers, of this type, at Bet365, I've got a few decent priced fez bets going courtesy of this kind of bet

Thanks MrMcGoldrick. Is it something you usually have to ask for or just find on there?

If you go onto horse racing, then scroll down to antepost, they are put either above the main antepost races or sometimes just below, they are listed as "antepost special doubles"

Has anyone considered Rajdhani Express for the Ascot chase, first time headgear tomoz could make a big difference to him being a nervous type. He could be hugely overpriced if the hood works, unusual for Hendo to use it so he must think it's worth trying, I think this is potentially a good horse, shame BG not riding.

I've seen a few people mention RE for this race and he is mildly intriguing. On his day a good horse but I think he'd be an outsider even if in better form. The hood has got to work wonders and I don't think even with him settling better he'll be able to stick with the likes of PZ, BS or BC when they turn on the class at the end.

I'm more than likely to be completely wrong and he'll run a stormer tomorrow but he's been so keen lately I wouldn't have to much faith in him keeping enough held back for the straight

Ruby likes his Grade1s and there is £84K for the winner. It has been surprising how few spares he picks up over here on Saturdays. Geraghty has only one ride at Navan on Sunday so works the other way too.

Could be a Pricewise horse ?

Backed Raj when he won at Cheltenham and think he could be on the premises tomorrow.

Ballycasey and Balder hype horses. Ptit Zig is marginaly better than Josses Hill.

Tizzards horse for the forecast.

I agree BC and Balder can be hype horses as they show at times they can be really classy sorts but then don't produce it as often as one would like. RE however has run a couple of good races but since then has lost the plot and you're putting a hell of a lot of faith in a first time hood!

I would happily offer you odds on RE to be behind both "hype" horses tomorrow

Ruby on his hype horse :)

I was disgusted with Ballycasey at Christmas when he ran no race. He ran so badly it couldn’t be true. His work since has been a lot better. I look down through the race and see Ma Filleule is getting the allowances but wants further.

Ptit Zig is only a novice. I just thought that if Ballycasey came back to the form he was in this time last year, when he beat Don Cossack and Carlingford Lough in the Moriarty Chase, he would be bang in the mix.

The trip (2m 5f) looks ideal. He’s a Grade 1 winner at this distance. Maybe he didn’t get home in the RSA Chase last year before finishing second to Carlingford Lough at Punchestown. He won a two mile beginners and he won over two-and-a-half at Gowran.

If he reproduces his Moriarty form he’ll be bang there with a big shout. He’s by Presenting so the ground shouldn’t inconvenience him either.

And the other one

The focus at Gowran will be on Champagne Fever and he should win. On any given day he should be able to beat these horses but the fact that Bright New Dawn only ran two weeks ago and Texas Jack a week ago, gives him a big advantage.

He has been working well since he fell in Thurles. We still don’t know what his best trip might be but knowing Willie, he’ll wait and see what turns up in the Ryanair and the Champion Chase before he commits to either.

Redmills Steeplechase a pointer to placed horses in Ryanair but no winner yet

You'd think they would look at CF's Chelters form to help them decide, 1st in Supreme, 2nd in Arkle, both two miles, that should be a good starting point.

William Hill have double prices MMG likes. Ma F is 40/1 Raj E 200/1 - with Dynaste out and others tempted by champion Chase might be value there

Cheers OV, just had a tickle on the mare, interesting that the prices offered are to win today then win any race at the festival, with Bet365 it's usually race specific so that's a decent concession from Hills

So I've been looking at the Ascot Race more this morning and have come to an executive conclusion (the sort men make now and again when they think they are smarter than the world and usually find out quite quickly after they aren't) that whoever wins this race will go on to win at the festival.

Ptit Zig is a good novice and jumps superbly but I'm not sure he is quite up to open Grade 1 level yet. The mare does scare me and is another superb jumper but I think that is her forte that wins her races such as the Topham but I'm convinced even receiving weight she won't have the finish of the Boys at the end. Whilst Theatre Guide is useful, he's better at further and not up to winning a Grade 1 and RE is now a non-runner but isn't for me anyway.

That leaves my original fancy Ballycasey who I think will go well today at his proper trip and Balder Success who although perhaps doesn't always put his best foot forward, his form since being a novice is right up there and I agree with Alan King that this is more his trip nowadays than 2m. As such I expect BC and BS to fight out a close finish today and again for them to be both right up there for the Ryanair come March.

Dynaste is one of my favourite horses and was my banker for this so he's a big miss. Don Cossack doesn't go as well left-handed and BC has had his number in the past. As much as I adore Cue Card I have my doubts he'll ever be as good as he was again and so I feel the Ryanair could well be between the two selections above and subsequently I have backed them both at odds that, if today goes how I've imagined, won't be there by this evening!

In light of my executive decision I now thoroughly expect the mare to win with Ptit Zig filling the places and the universe will be back in balance...
