2015 Arkle Trophy Chase

Barry looking for the positive

JOSSES HILL ATR Tracker took off far too soon at the ninth in the two and a half mile novices’ chase and that just knocked his confidence because he was jumping fine up till then. He was good again at the last three but that mistake cost him the race. Had he won a couple of lengths then we’d all be happy – and I was. I think a strong pace in the Arkle will suit him and although I’m not saying he’ll beat Un De Sceaux I do think he’s next best.

Josses hasn't actually fallen and maybe going full clip after UDS he might get ino a rythmn. It's a bit it will be alright on the night. Tidal Bays Arkle springs to mind.

Blind Faith from Barry.Josses dosent look a natural to me, the eye dosent lie.

Gilgamboa not going to be running in Arkle or JLT after that show ?

Wouldn't have thought he'd be worth backing if he did, doesn't enhance the Clarcam form either given they were within around half a length of each other.

I did mention the Grand Annual but if that was a plot it was brilliantly executed.

I might have to back Vibrato - hard to get a handle on the Irish form.

PN seemed pretty keen on Vibrato didn't he but with the proviso that UDS would be very hard to beat if he jumps round

It looks a let down for the form of the Irish Arkle but more likely in my opinion is he hard a very hard race three weeks ago given the gallop they went for the whole race and he run too soon after.

That could easily be the case. His Christmas form seems a distant memory anyway.

Un De Sceaux: It’s going to be tough for him coming up that hill but he has every chance. He beats anything he has taken on and he’s just the type of chaser you love to train. A horse that takes a fence from wherever he meets it is heartstopping. The press, the punters, whoever have decided if he stands up he wins and I’m happy enough to go with that. He learnt his trade jumping in France. His fall was a novice mistake, but he’s not mistake-prone – we’ve seen him go in short and go long when he wants.

It's comind down the hill I'd be worried about. Could be a boilover in this.

I thought that too mayo, I posted yesterday about looking to lay UDS in the race before the downhill fence, the in-running could go 1.1 if he is clear, my thinking was to possibly risk 5 or 10 quid for a potential 1000% return in 1 minute.

I don't think is just as bad since they moved it but I have left some pile at the second last in my time.

Me too, I've also collected because of ones falling allowing the one I've backed to go on, so it's not all one way

Nightmare at Prestbury the sequel :p

Sail By The Sea has done everything right over fences so far and seems to be improving, is he a bit underrated for the Arkle in your opinion?
He is a nice horse, although he needs to improve considerably to win a very hot looking Arkle. Having said that, Western Warhorse also needed to improve last year and look what happened! At this stage of his career Sail By The Sea arguably has better credentials than last year’s winner so let’s hope that lightning can strike twice!

Hobbs

You’ve got three entered in the Arkle, who will run and how do you rate their chances?

It's only Dunraven Storm, that could have an each way chance on good ground.

A few bits of blue for Sail by the Sea. Coral into 25s. Still 50s NRNb with Boyles. 37 on Betfair.

Will the UDS backers hedge :devilish:
