2000 Guineas

Ok cheers FM. Do you think Pinatubo is a pretty bomb proof fav or is there better value going for an outsider or without Fav market? From the 2 races I saw Pinatubo last season he was very impressive and he’s the next 2 in the market already. If he runs to his standard last season is he unbeatable??

I think he's going to be really tough to beat but I'm not a fan of backing at those odds (my record on short price horses Is abysmal).

I chanced Al Suhail at 28/1 a week ago. He's not the most genuine but is a talented horse imo. I like him for the Derby too.

I’m not that knowledgeable or profitable on the flat but I do enjoy a punt. Therefore a bit of guidance would be very much appreciated. How much impact and influence does a high draw have on a 1 mile race at Newmarket? What are the favoured stall positions?

TKP - Personally, I wouldn't put any significance on the draw for Guineas. It's a straight mile and doubt there'll be a draw bias - the best horse on the day should be victorious.

A straight mile probably negates an actual draw bias like Chester would have for example. However, it's probably worth having a look at where the likely early pace is etc. That's where there might be a pace bias at a certain area of the track.

Last year's race was a good example of this with the stand side considered to have a bias.

Stands rail looked very much the place to be today... high numbers maybe an advantage?

That stands rail often looks like a golden highway.
But you have to watch for them moving the starting stalls.
Think they may be on the far side tomorrow, according to the Racing Post.

1m 4f centre, all others far side.

It was stands side today.

they could still head for the rail anyway, but not as straightforward as today.

Saturday the stalls move back to the STAND Side
Sunday the stalls move over to the FAR Side.

.....Royal Dornoch is my e/w play in this as I think it’s a certain stayer and could run into things late on.

Yeah just read this:

Royal Dornoch beat subsequent Racing Post Trophy winner Kameko in the Royal Lodge here in September and up-and-coming Tom Marquand could enjoy a first ride for Aidan O’Brien

40/1 seems fair versus the 10/1 for Kameko.

The problem is I don't like Kameko at all :highly_amused:

Pray for Pinatubo day :highly_amused:

:applause:

I've taken the 5/6 - 12 points win. (Also got 4 points on in doubles that roll on)

1.5 pts e/w on Military March 25/1 (ante post)
0.5 pts e/w on Royal Dornoch 40/1 (4 places)

1 pt Military March 2000/Derby 100/1
0.5 pt Al Suhail 2000/Derby 150/1

Doesn't look great on paper :highly_amused:

Joined you on the 100/1 Military March double Kev.

Had a small play on him antepost for the 2000 Guineas at 20s so may as well have some on the double

Agree with you Eggs

Pfft, where are the fences? :highly_amused:

Ah jeez! That'll be a few points down the pan then! And likely the end of me trying to get ahead on some festival horses :highly_amused:

Flat racing ffs :sorrow::heart-borken:

Nothing beats watching the flat, them hitting 2 furlongs out and your selection starting to go backwards
