Novice Hurdlers 2027

Don’t know, but I had a quick look at last couple of years and noticed runner up this year and the third home year before were both 5.
Epatante couldn't win as a 5yo......won CH following season. That said, 5yo's dominated the race that year . Was in it's infancy though.

I've had my eye on the form lines of that point race since late summer when I started drilling back into it. I know the square root of sod all about how a horse should look etc but the people buying stock made all the right moves and paid hefty fees.

It's an obvious one though to be fair. She was ante post fav before Witches Familiar went to the head of the market and everyone saw what she did. It's like when Mick Fitzgerald put up Constitution Hill as his horse to follow the season after he won the Champion Hurdle 😂 I like pundits who have a bit of a go at one from left field.

Kawaboomga or Mighty Park win the BANC. I'm not a pundit but it just happens 😂😂 They will improve an absolute bundle this year. I stuck up Koktail Divin last year before the season started at 66s after everyone had forgotten about him as the big improver. Ok it didn't quite land but it went close 🤣 I carried that ticket all the way

Wonder how many 5yo have ran in it the last 7 years.........🤔

Where's the Statos out there .....
Last 9 years as follows:

4yo : 9 runners, 0 wins, 0 places. Expected wins 0.25, expected places 0.87
5yo : 63 runners, 2 wins (Eglantine Du Seuil and Laurina), 12 places (including winners), expected wins 4.32, expected places 10.86
6yo : 72 runners, 7 wins, 14 places, expected wins 3.58, expected places 12.18
7yo : 18 runners, 0 wins, 1 place, expected wins 0.68, expected places 2.36
8yo : 4 runners, 0 wins, 0 places, expected wins 0.11, expected places 0.37

So 6yo definitely over performing as regards winners but only slightly so for places. 5yo under performing for winners but slightly over performing for places.

Very much a mixed bag. Lottery in terms of trends but the stat for winners definitely leans towards 6yo

43 5yo's ran in it the last 7 years. Fuck me that's conclusive. Including........

Brighterdaysahead and Jade De Grugy

Now we know why they got stuffed.

OUCH!!!!

Kawaboomga will run in the Arkle BTW.....

Looked good yesterday. Was expecting a few superlatives on here about him. I haven't backed him, not sure where I stand with Dan's novice hurdles to be honest. Can't really get a handle on them.

He absolutely loves him. Thinks he'll be running in all the top Novice races this season.

ST JAMES’S FINEST
“He is a very good horse. We left him after he won at Windsor, but we could have run him in any of those championship bumpers in the spring.

“He won a valuable bumper at Windsor and we thought that was enough to ask for now. He is a very smooth horse that jumps nicely.

“I would have him right up there with the best of our novice hurdle team. I don’t know if he is a two mile or a two and a half mile horse yet, but we will start him off over two miles. There is no doubt he will be running in graded races this season.”
