Michael , Eddie , I know you both read the Forum , send Samcro to the J.l.t or R.s.a ................

On RPRs yesterdays run was the best run of Samcros career to date, gone back in again at 5/1 and will keep fingers crossed he runs in Morg and does the business.

His best run ever is being beaten by Bedrock?

Something must be wrong with the rating system :highly_amused:

Gordys just said again he definitely stays hurdling

He agreed that Morgiana will be D-Day...

IF he does get beaten in the Morgiana, would that mean he went novice chasing? You couldn't be as strong as him as before, no positives from his season so far.

Think jlt is the race he should be going for after that performance, seemed to be reaching the end of his tether in the ballymore so rsa could be to far at this stage and doesn't look to have the speed for the arkle, imo.

Antepost prices up for Morgiana with PP and betfair.
Look a bit off kilter to me.
Priced up like only Samcro is confirmed to run which I understand.
Although paddy's going odds 5/6 on is a joke surely.
Think Harrington mentioned this race and the Hatton's Grace for Supasundae, and given smacro disappointing then she may go for this.
And Nothing to lose with this horse either.
10-1 is big.
I'll be having a pop at that each way but might wait for a firm offering three places as PP only two at moment.
expect willie to run Melon and saldier (guessing) If they run Laurina then she must be absolutely smashing everything in the yard.

Now 8-1, didn't last long

5/6 at PP now out to 11/8 for Samcro

Identity Thief maybe :devilish:

Given he is in one of the forum yankees let’s hope not!

There are NO positives for samcro's run today, except for he lives to fight another day.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is IMO clutching at straws (bendy ones)

Horse won't have been near fit for today- weights meant he had to run a career best, hard to do when not at your best!

"Getting done for tactical speed" is the excuse The New One followers should have admitted for all those years haha.

Regardless of how they crunch the numbers, you can't say he looks like a Champion Hurdler on today's run.

I was hoping for a change of plan and to go chasing but it's incredibly unlikely.

My RSA shout is closer than it was 24 hours ago though haha

Changing plan after one run would be a bit over the top?He wasn't travelling to bad over 2miles at Punchestown as a novice in open company.....

Agree on this. I do understand people's disappointment, at the end of the day, he was the second coming in a lot of people's eyes, and was unbeaten. Taken the gloss off perhaps.
I just wonder if Giggi will have a pacemaker for Samcro in his next race and champion?

Pacemaker in the Champion Hurdle which if anything like last year will be run at a true Championship pace?

trainer said he was fit before the race, and has changed his tune a bit since, so we're all guessing as to how fit he was.

It would have been brave to change plan. And too far out to say how he would have finished that race, he clearly travels well and can pretty much rely on that against novices but the other day threw a doubt as to if he can finish his race at the top level.

ratings can often become out of sinc, when timings on unseasonably good ground and running and completing in open company.
and the rating is just wrong IMO.

What was Charli Parcs doing last year ?

still not sure how to work this quotes thing

Just another opinion on Samcro, but worth a read IMO - http://www.attheraces.com/blogs/declan-rix

If we look at it from another perspective, rather than just a defeat, Sharjah, a Galway Hurdle winner off top weight, finishing ahead of Bedrock on that occasion, by nearly 7 lengths and in that race giving him 2lb, but on what you would assume would be his favoured softened ground, was then hammered, not just by Samcro, but Bedrock too, this time in receipt of 3lb from that horse, so a 5lb swing in Sharjah's favour, plus the near 7 lengths he had in hand from the Galway hurdle win, I think you could easily come to the conclusion that Sharjah & Samcro cut each others throats and that Samcro ran an almighty race to finish as close as he did. This is without even taking into account the fitness advantages of both Bedrock & Sharjah.

I can see Samcro showing improved runs, and improving from anywhere between 10-15lb from now until the festival, minimum, which would put him bang there!

Gordon has made no secret about how far his horses are behind, and that has been evident with a lot of their runs, not just Samcro.

I think the majority of us last season were somewhat underwhelmed by Buveur D'air's prep and his final run before the festival but he got the job done. I certainly would not be too hasty to write off Samcro myself.

Haha, i found it pretty difficult to begin with.

Charli Parcs, depending on how you view things was "pace making" or he was in there as a spoiler for Faugheen...If Samcro is as slow + one-paced as some say, there's every chance they will try and make all with him Faugheen-style.

Jardine had good reasons for Bedrock's improvement but there also has to be the possibility that Sharjah is inconsistent and just didn't give his running on Friday.
You wouldn't count Samcro out until the next run but, to my eyes at least, he didn't look like a hurdler and he didn't look like a two miler. I can see no way as it stands that he can improve the stone or so as a two mile hurdler that he needs to find by March.

Of course, it is a possibility regarding Sharjah, I'm not convinced myself though, I think the pair of them set it up for Bedrock, and fitness told for Samcro and Sharjah just wasn't good enough to go with the pair.

Completely agree about not looking like a hurdler in that race, however, nothing to suggest last season that he wasn't a hurdler, them big jumps at the hurdles I would put down to schooling over fences, I think there were rumours about it, though unverified. IF that is the case it makes you wonder how much hurdles work he done prior to the race and how much of jumping fences was fresh in his memory.

It is a lot to improve that much as you noted, but again it depends how much was left to work on. Next race is crucial for sure.

I really hope he looks a lot better next time, and if he doesn't I wouldn't be too sure how he'd rank as a novice chaser.
I'd expect that there's something not quite right if he looks slow in the finish again.

I accept to a certain extent the pace angle for the last run,
but we're talking about bedrock !, who was sat just behind most of the race, it's not like he was 10 lengths off and the front two were reduced to a walk after going too fast,
and sharjah who has definitely shown himself to be a bit inconsistent.
