Cheltenham 2019 Ante-Post bets

An angle I’m intrigued with is the NH bloodline of Sandmason (sire of Summerville Boy & Black Op). He only really came to light with Tom George’s success with the pair last season. Surely other yards will have taken note and any of his offspring will have been popular in the sales this summer. If anyone could point me in the direction of any further info on this it would be greatly appreciated. I’m as far from a breeding expert as you can be!

Good spot/angle that Sean, Noted !

Speaking of breeding I saw VISION D’HONNEUR mentioned as one to keep an eye on

I agree with a lot of that CoD.

I'd perhaps be less inclined to think Melon will go chasing based on Samcro entering the division though...

Ruby/Mullins don't own/ride BVD or Samcro, so taking "their best" horse out of the running doesn't make their chance of winning it any easier (obviously) .... I think Willie's yard considers how to split their own pack first... for example, if they knew they wanted to have a tilt at the CH with Laurina, it could 'free up' Melon to go chasing. Even that isn't how it works though (I'd imagine), as you need more than one dart at each race! I imagine they aim Melon at the CH again as well as Laurina and split the deck accordingly when we get much much closer and key trials have been won/lost!

I do feel they would also want to give him the best chance of winning at the festival for connections too, so IF he takes to schooling over fences well I think the prospect of taking on Kalashnikov/Mengli Khan over Buveur D'air/Samcro is a no brainer, especially as Laurina could walk the Mares' too, that's potentially a better chance of 2 wins than if he went down the Champion Hurdle route IMO.

I must admit, I had thought who else does Mullins have for the Champion Hurdle if Melon does go over fences, but currently have no answers that would give him a chance, bar the him and Laurina tbh.

FONTAINEBLEAU ( )

Flat - 3.000 m

Trade was topped by an imposing son of the recently deceased Vision d’Etat, VISION D’HONNEUR (lot 5), who walked into the ring as the winner of his only start in a bumper at Fontainebleau. The charge of Robert Collet attracted bids from all around the Auteuil winner circle and Margaret O’Toole had to fork out €350,000 to sceal the deal on behalf of Gordon Eliott.

The trainer was on attendance alongside Nicky Bertrand de Balanda, who commented: “He is a gorgeous stamp of a horse who won very well on his sole start. I came to see him three weeks ago and was very impressed by him, then Gordon and Eddie saw him this morning and instantly fell in love with him. We think he can develop into a very good horse.”

Any particular Race you think Dento des obeaux will go for Scooby ?.

Not a clue, on breeding further than 2. However (ie roaring lion on then the flat) that's only a guide. And doesn't mean much to me personally,

Dento des obeaux is really interesting I was told last year that they thought he was outstanding, so im eagerly awaiting his debut

Just been on the Bet365 site looking at the Ballymore prices and theres 8 horses @1/1.Whats going on there?

Unsure which race he was to be aimed at or if anyone was at all interested but impressive Aintree bumper winner, and winner on his hurdles debut, Portrush Ted, is out for the season.

Danny Kirwan and Pym were the two I was interested in when watching that race but Portrush Ted was impressive. Shame for connections he is out.

Pym is still one that interests me for the Ballymore. 33-1 with Bet365 and there cash out option if things don't go to plan is quite tempting.

That is bad news, a horse I was very interested in.

Are we about to see Penhill take 2?

Mullins/Bloom have Kaatskill Nap at Galway today, not much different to how Penhill started his life over hurdles. OK, so it is pretty unlikely for lightening to strike twice, but these Bloom horses won't be evading my attention, if it dots up today I may have to request a price with a few bookmakers for the AB & 'Any Race' markets.

This last week I've really got my interest back for racing after not being interested in the flat at all this year. So I've dabbled in a couple of the sky request a bets mainly involving Samcro, Altior, Penhill and Presenting Percy. Then today iev put my first single on with a couple of points ew on Vinndication for the JLT at 33-1.

Just bet like a mouse
Until Fairyhouse.

Won't be rushing to take a price just yet, but encouraging enough. Awful error 2 out, and then looked awkward for pressure but clearly stays the trip of 2m 5 1/2f, suggesting that 3m would not be a problem either.

Got an eye on them crafty lot with this one ;):highly_amused:

How much do you consider the owners though?

"Ricci likes one for the Supreme" must be the most uninformed statements that gets branded around... "Bloom loves one in a handicap" is the same to me. "JP loves a plot"

So so so far down the list of things that could affect a horses chance to win for me that I can't imagine ever really getting interested in a horse unless I thought the connections would change their plans for the respective horse because of another in the yard.... and that happens so rarely overall.
