Brown Advisory Plate 2018

Said as much on the first page Jono! But haven’t backed any of O’Learys yet...

As you did Sean - I hadn't read that - clearly you were ahead of me with this idea. Despite not backing anything yet do you have any particular fancy out of that group?

On Tycoon Prince,

Following the weights being published: with De Plotting Shed getting 143 and into the Novices Handicap Chase on Day 1 with Davy onboard, i'm more confident that this will be the race that he lines up in (only other option is the Grand Annual)

33/1 Taken.

Tycoon Prince is definitely one Im interested in jono... but I have backed him NRNB for the Grand Annual.

His best form appears to be over 2m?

Could General Principle be the one for this race?!

Attribution is the Gigginstown runner that stands out to me at the minute. Has form on decent ground racing outside of handicap company. But iv backed The Storyteller for this, may have a saver on Attribution...

The Grand Annual won't obviously have anyone like Footpad (or Petit Mouchoir) in the race but I think TP was completely taken off his feet last time out over 2 miles(1). I can see the Grand Annual resulting in a similar outcome if he were to go there as it's always run at an incredibly quick pace. I have a slight negative for him for any festival handicap in regards to a big field (largest field size has been 10 runners apart from his run at Aintree in 2016 - PU/22) as well and I think in such a field size, going at that speed it'll all be too much for him. They were pretty keen to go up in trip over hurdles without wasting too much time. Clearly so far he is yet to live up to the promise expected of him from his bumper days (which is another reason why I feel he could have more to come) and I've felt like they have deliberately gone down the 2 mile route with a step up in trip the plan for the Spring Festival handicaps.

General Principle (40/1) did take my eye, with a similar path that Empire of Dirt took - top 3 mile staying handicap chases like the Troytown, Paddy Power Chase. And he did step back in trip and ran in the same race Empire of Dirt ran in before winning this race. I think he's been slightly disappointing though myself where as Empire of Dirt was coming into form as the season progressed. GP ran a great prep over hurdles to get him into the Troytown spot on. Going off 6/1 2nd fav he was well beaten 31 lengths and finished a similar distance back over Christmas. A slightly better performance followed at the Dublin racing festival but he was still well beaten by Last Goodbye who could reoppose. Now Last Goodbye won that receiving 11lbs from GP that day (and the jockey was claiming 7lb) and if they raced here again, the weights are well reversed with Gp this time getting 9lb so that is a huge swing in the weights so you could see a case why he could reverse form between the pair on that basis. I'm just not quite sure he's shown as much promise as expected and I can't find too many excuses for him..?? Am I right in thinking they've said soft ground is best for him too?

Last Goodbye gets a very strong mention by Rory Delargy in the FFP.

He also says it is a race to look for outsiders historically because there is a lot of luck because of where they start from.

Worth listening to, not something I'd factor in to my bets though personally

King's Socks had a few entries over the next few days but has been declared for a graduation chase in Kempton tomorrow. He was a top Juvenile hurdler in France, could be interesting here. Although he only raced on soft or heavy in France so Spring ground would be an unknown. He was short enough in the betting for the Betvictor in 2017 (as a four year old) but picked up an injury. Does anybody know what the injury was? He hasn't been seen since...

The 2nd and 3rd from Kings Socks listed hurdle win (May 2016) both won in France today.

The storyteller goes here.

True. I've backed it in both races NRNB and was going to free up the stake in the Ultima but I'll hang fire for now.

I can't wait for this race. Your about to see what a good one does to handicappers.
Flogas form

Won't go too far wrong covering both if Snow Falcon and the Storyteller line up here. Should be a class above

On Flogas form Snow Falcon has him held...

Are you taking weights into account, the way the race was ran/ conditions. And race fitness of snow falcon. SF is also likely rsa at this stage.
There's 1 I'd want to be on of the pair. And its all systems go under his mark.

I'd rather be on The Storyteller too if pushed, but am happily on both
