William Hill paid first 5 in this the year Champagne Fever won, and there were only 12 runners (including 2 200/1 shots). I'd say thats enhanced place terms![]()
Must admit iv never seen that before.

Only 3v3r e3en 3 places on the supreme.

The only interesting thing about this race is who comes 2nd. And how far does he win by. Other than that. He turns up, he wins.
I have said a number of times here that no matter what happens apart from an injury Samcro & Getabird will not meet, after they both win in march I will be searching high & low for a double next year on both of them, I have not seen two better horses in training a for a few years.. my guess Sam will win a Gold Cup and Getabird QMCC if both stay fit in two years time..
What makes you say he isn't in their league charlie?
2018 - Getabird won it with a RPR of 152 - beating a G1 hurdle winner 9L in MEngli Khan
2017 - Crack Mome 2nd with a RPR of 142
2016 - Min won it with a rating of 152 (same) beating Attribution 9.5L (who had only won a maiden)
2015 - Douvan won with an RPR of 149, beating Alpha Des Obeaux who won a maiden hurdle and came 2nd in a G3 hurdle
2014 - Vautour won it with an RPR of 145 beating Western Boy by 0.75L who had won a maiden only
Strictly using the Moscow Flyer as a negative for Getabird based on the above is impossible IMO - Obviously nobody will be using the above evidence to have full faith, as year on year each race is different... but I do think you CANNOT argue that Getabird IS NOT in their league, at that point in each of their careers?
In fact, strictly on that data above you could argue Getabird has achieved more than any of them had at that stage.
Iv never seen enhanced place terms on the supreme before. ??
Your response demonstrates why I love this forum! It would be impossible for me to try and argue he is not in their league based on that!!What I mean is I remember being seriously impressed with Douvan and Min in both those races and I didn't get the same vibe from Getabird who was far more more workmanlike (even though Vautour had to be more workmanlike than any of then when winning in 2014). Also the winning time on the Sky Sports website was 34 seconds out which threw me, but having watched the race back a few more times I concede that he was quite impressive, albeit having it completely his own way from the front. Put in my place with cold hard facts. Cheers kev :highly_amused:

Are you sure it wasn't first 6 or 7 FM ?
I remember hearing of crowds of punters queuing to back all the 12/1-33/1 shots each at the Hills counter in the Centaur Centre, I think there were a couple of total rags (250/1) so the thinking was back 4 or 5 in the race and most would place so you couldn't really lose.
To be fair to Hills they made the enhancement a few days before the race when 20 odd were expected to go, they must have got seriously stung there...
I thought it was 6 myself.... but can't find evidence even in my spread sheets.
Dodging Bullets....a future Champion Chaser over the track and trip... couldn't get in the first 6. Pathetic!
Remember this from another forum I'm a member of, as I was just getting into racing, and one of the pro punters there gave the gaffer a heart attack, telling him to max bet 1/2 the field e/w :highly_amused:
I'm plotted up at the hospital for the afternoon tomorrow, so will see if I can find what the exact deal was.
Does anyone know if any bookmaker has priced up a 1-2-3 for Ireland in this race?
I've been going through the form (for about for 1000th time it feels) and apart from ITCF (who is now ruled out) I genuinely struggle to see a British contender!
Claimantakforgan and kalashnikov have as strong claims as some of the Irish horses behind getabird.
I'm not convinced, the sign of weak form for me is when they all seem to be able to beat each, and that's exactly what have all done, with the exception of ITCF, who we unfortunately no longer have in the race. Kalashnikov would be the one of any who could scupper the 1-2-3 but may try and get an Ireland 1-2 instead, I've asked someone who is on Twitter to request these anyway.
Getabird wins.
Not a clue who's 2nd 3rd, probably mengli khan
Since 2011, NH has had 9 runners either place or win.
2015 was the only year he did not place (L'ami Serge came 4th behind Douvan, Shaneshill and Sizing John).
Whether Claimintakinforgan is up to it is up for debate. But you cannot knock those recent stats.
