Jesus! I thought I did well last year with 9, that is truly truly exceptional. I agree with BOF Ziggym - let us know your fancies!!
 
In the handicaps I tend to bet 1pt on about 6 or 7 horses, probably to return anything from 10 - 20 pts. As long as I win 3/4 of them I’ll usually break even. Just checked and last year I won 5. The close brothers and martin pipe I maybe should have left alone this year on reflection, there seems to be about 15 horses in each I’d give chances to

I'm the same Robbante - which puts my winning rate at about 10/170!

Weighing up a different tactic next year which is putting no ante post bets on until nrnb kicks in around January (think scooby mentioned it). For the handicaps it really helps building a decent book

I think this is something I'll be paying closer attention to next year Tim. My only 'any race' bets this year were Getabird, ITCF and Movewiththetimes, and I think that was a particularly useful move with Getabird as it's saved me no end of worry about Mullins bingo! If at the time I placed the bet I was to have picked just 1 race to back him in, it most certainly wouldn't have been the Supreme, and my money would have been long gone.

It seems to be getting more and more common for horses to jump not only between distances but also between disciplines too, so we’re not only trying to weigh up the likelihood of whether a horse goes for say the JLT or RSA – but now also whether or not they might switch to the Stayers. It also nicely covers off the handicap angle – horses like the aforementioned Movewiththetimes who at the start of the season you might have thought would end up as an Arkle/JLT horse, but now looks to have solid chance in the Close Brothers. I know a few on here are on Blow By Blow from early in the season and were probably writing those bets off, but now looks likely to be a live one in the Pertemps or Martin Pipe. So many examples.

My worry is that bookies will latch onto the usefulness of these markets and suck all the value out of them. For those of us who don’t bet big stakes it really isn’t much interest to me tying up funds in getting stuck into a 4/1 any race shot in November.

Whether it will be profitable or not remains to be seen BUT the "Any Race" market has given me peace of mind over the last 6 months.
I have used it much more this season than before and it has allowed me not to panic on horses such as: Samcro, Finians Oscar, Bacardys, Presenting Percy, Monalee, On the Blind Side, Yorkhill etc... who all at one time or another had at least 2 possible targets (5 or 6 in Finians case!)

Hills "Any Race" market usually seems more generous than most and one I will be using again in the future (unless they suck the value out of it!)
 
Then next year we all be the same what big price did you get for that horse etc. For what race etc ;)

I've got 5pts on ITCF, so don't have to worry about him, and my 2 worst bets were probably getting carried away with Yanworth & FO.

Lucky, as I'd have backed Yanworth for the JLT and FO for the RSA, if I'd not had these markets. Somehow I'm still gonna get a run for them both, even if not a return.

I've not had time to try racking my brains, so it has given me more time to get on with work etc.

My brother-in-law (who is American) texted my wife tonight to set up some time to get together. He came to Cheltenham with me in 2013 and when she said I was was away at Cheltenham from Thursday he responded:
Ahhhh Cheltenham. Memories. Such a great time. Never have lost every bet and been in a better mood. So much fun.

Even a Yank can sum it up!
