Cheltenham 2018 Ante post bets

I'm trying to talk myself into repeating my 'best' ante post bet of last season..... which was a double on Altior (Arkle) / Yorkhill (JLT) .... paid for a chunk of my wedding, as I am sure plenty on here know as I didn't keep it quiet haha.:triumphant::highly_amused::devilish: - not after timing, it is all on here somewhere :very_drunk:

Anyway, the natural progression for the Arkle winner, is next seasons QMCC. 6/4 best price... that is obvious.

Now the Gold Cup is off the agenda for Yorkhill, the JLT to Ryanair looks the most obvious step for him as a chaser... (arguably would be regardless of how Yorkhill got on today anyway)...

Yorkhill, won the JLT with the best performance of his career - Winning Time: 4m 58.90s
A couple of hours later, UDS won the Ryanair over a furlong further in Winning Time: 5m 9.60s with arguably his best performance too. Nothing too much to gauge from the times but Yorkhill would only ever look to beat the 2nd in the race as short a distance as he can...

The double pays 26.5/1 with WH and I'm tempted even though it'd be against my better judgement of backing a Mullins horse that doesn't have a confirmed target. (obviously the CH is an obvious consideration, but I did back Yorkhill at 20s for that after his defeat in April last season so do feel I have that covered)

Stopping myself doing this because it'd be a bet with the heart not the head...

Without a doubt for me, Yorkhill's BEST chance of winning a race at the festival though is the Ryanair..... CC will have Altior in it (and they decided NOT to take him on last year, so I can easily see the same situation this year, especially when 'Min deserves a crack at him again'... and the CH will have Buveur D'air in it, and they'd have a poor prep and BVD might just be better than him anyway.....

@ 37267/1 with WH

E/W Canadian

Presenting Percy 10/1 - 4 miler (think they'll take the 'easier' option)
Cause of Causes 9/2 - Cross Country
Willoughby Court 6/1 - JLT
Yorkhill 10/1 - Ryanair (case made in Ryanair thread)
Salsaretta 7/1 - bit of a flyer, just wanted one with a sure-fire target

Welcome back.

I am confused that I haven't got a bet on BVD, Altior and Might Bite together. That sounds like a bet I definitely would have though about and placed long before they've all been made favourites!!!

Ignore that, I backed a super heinz with Top Notch, Claimantakingforgan, Brain Power and On The Blind Side (for the wrong race)

I was doing the B.d'air -7-2 ,Altior 6-4,might bite 10-1 + another in L.15's all summer long , some of the 'anothers ' looking alright
now too.

Did'nt know where to post this .......... Arise Sir Nicky Henderson. ! .

Voted by all the Queens advisers who snapped up the 1000 Binocular and when those winnings ran out they then managed to lay him at 4 the following year.

Clearly tongue in cheek and I need to be careful 'cos I have an invite to Seven Barrows in the New Year, not sure jokes like that go down too well there....

I like that bet. There are question marks on:

A. Whether Altior can comeback in time
B. Whether Yorkhill lines up in the Ryanair

Like you I had the double last year but I wouldn't say placing this bet again would be a heart vs head bet...for me at least. IF both were to lineup in the race then for me they are worthy favourites in each with Altior have an obvious chance and in my view very much the most likely winner of the Ryanair in Yorkhill. Come the day in both races I think both head and heart would be on both selections so the bet is really just weighing up the above risk of them lining up here

2pts on the double

Lovely stuff BC :encouragement: - I have a trixie on the three in both the CH CC & GC plus a KG CH CC treble. Wish I had of topped up or done a few more now

As I only see Altior winning the CC, the 26.5/1 is really on Yorkhill lining up. High enough price to take the chance ... and as you know I did talk myself in to taking the bet :highly_amused: 2 pts on the double

Thanks mate just trying to add multiples now with what I feel are chances with confirmed targets

Head looks solid.

I've already gambled enough on Salsaretta for a horse that's not made get debut yet ... very much reminds me of Limini though as done one else said.

.....

New year on Monday and the real gambling can begin. *gulp*

Accessing any bookmaker from Australia is a right ball ache, so can someone tell me who is best price on Next Destination to win 'any race' please? TIA.

2 I’ve got my eye on for the handicaps are

Barters Hill in the Coral cup - hurdles rating of 142 and was arguably better over the middle distance than 3m

Moon Racer rated 142 in the county hurdle.
Would want to see them both run before pulling the trigger - and barters Hill isn’t even priced up - but at the weights I think they would have real chances

To any of the guys here who 'get the missus to put a bet on her unrestricted account', do you use the same bank card or do I need to use a different one?
