I'm trying to talk myself into repeating my 'best' ante post bet of last season..... which was a double on Altior (Arkle) / Yorkhill (JLT) .... paid for a chunk of my wedding, as I am sure plenty on here know as I didn't keep it quiet haha.:triumphant::highly_amused:
- not after timing, it is all on here somewhere :very_drunk:
Anyway, the natural progression for the Arkle winner, is next seasons QMCC. 6/4 best price... that is obvious.
Now the Gold Cup is off the agenda for Yorkhill, the JLT to Ryanair looks the most obvious step for him as a chaser... (arguably would be regardless of how Yorkhill got on today anyway)...
Yorkhill, won the JLT with the best performance of his career - Winning Time: 4m 58.90s
A couple of hours later, UDS won the Ryanair over a furlong further in Winning Time: 5m 9.60s with arguably his best performance too. Nothing too much to gauge from the times but Yorkhill would only ever look to beat the 2nd in the race as short a distance as he can...
The double pays 26.5/1 with WH and I'm tempted even though it'd be against my better judgement of backing a Mullins horse that doesn't have a confirmed target. (obviously the CH is an obvious consideration, but I did back Yorkhill at 20s for that after his defeat in April last season so do feel I have that covered)
Stopping myself doing this because it'd be a bet with the heart not the head...
Without a doubt for me, Yorkhill's BEST chance of winning a race at the festival though is the Ryanair..... CC will have Altior in it (and they decided NOT to take him on last year, so I can easily see the same situation this year, especially when 'Min deserves a crack at him again'... and the CH will have Buveur D'air in it, and they'd have a poor prep and BVD might just be better than him anyway.....
