2026 Gold Cup

Look at the weather forecast chaps. Pretty dismal.

Stellar Story still available at 66/1 ;)

Had a free bet on Lecky Watson
NRNB on Galopin Des Champs, Affordale Fury and Spindelberry

:cautious:

Affordale Fury is a blow, has a reason been given?

My only remaining dart in this is now Jango Baie at 20/1 which was taken straight after King George.

I’ve lost enough on my ante posts on Lecky Watson and Stellar Story!

Never had a good betting record in this one though, so I’d probably avoid! 🤣

Noel mead did an interview on RTV after the bumper win. Said the horse has been working well, but hadn’t been eating up properly the last few days. Not worth the risk as something must be amiss if not eating well.

Jango Baie my main play here, but going to cover with Firefox.

I think Elliot’s aren’t actually going that badly, and he’s doing something a little different going up in trip slightly which I like for the gold cup. Seems to be improving as well and the Irish are 9-1 in G1s this week.

Good luck all!

I’ve managed to get nice position on Jukebox, Jango and GW, which means last years winner will come back and win
Same here with jukebox, jango and gaelic but i had to cover last years winner when he went out to double figures, couldn't handle him coming back to haunt me, again !

I don’t agree this market. I really don’t think TJM should be fav and I couldn’t have Haiti shorter than Jango Baie.

Jango Baie and Gaelic would be my idea of the most likely winners, with TJM and last years winner just behind.

I’ve had a little more on Jango Baie at current prices. Haiti a big loser for me and presently but I might be forced to close that gap a little.

Im thinking jango, but it is currently raining heavy right now. Will he stay 3m2 in soft ?

I’d personally prefer him to stay the trip than TJM. I’m surprised the way the market has formed.

Unless the going is soft or worse tomorrow, I will let Haiti be a loser for me. Will get on board of the rain has a big impact. Will have to check the times after the first two races.

Any thought on Spillanes Tower here? I've backed Jango and Firefox here, but taking a look at him now.

He's been well fancied every time he comes over to England, quickly found out that Kempton wasn't his track which I can almost always forgive, and won a pretty poor Cotswolds Chase, but at least he shows he CAN act at Cheltenham.

Record over 3m excluding Kempton is 121 including a loss to GDC.

Horses running at Cotswolds Chase have a terrible record in this, but the fact he's been running over 2m3f hurdles before that race might mean he has quite a bit left in the tank.

Its a weak(ish) renewal of the Gold Cup. I can't have TJM, GW or IKTWYT in this, they just aren't Gold Cup types.

The negtive is he's hit or miss, hasn't particularly beaten or proven much, and the fact they tried him over hurdles this season suggests they aren't really sure what to do with him.

Nonetheless, he's one of those horses who could potentially have a big day in him and I'm pretty happy to find out at 16/1.

Spillane’s has some sort of chance, top of my head she was receiving 6 lbs from Lhomme, which does make it look a shaky race as a guide to GC. However ST def looked there was plenty more to come, lightly raced, so maybe improvement, and they should be a bit of dig tomorrow. On the 125s for pennies with WH, so fingers crossed.

I'm definitely going to have a bet on Spillanes tomorrow.
