2026 Novice Chasers

I don’t think Born To Seas don’t like bad ground. It was why I was against, and then so impressed by Talk The Talk last week. I’d put a line through that with Mambo and give him another chance on better ground in the spring.

Rated 146 after four runs and maybe he’ll even be dropped a pound. I’d be keen on him in the plate if he were aimed that way.

The winner did it nicely.

Oh, had not seen that from Thomas, see what he thinks now I guess, may have changed.
I'd hope so, was after the last win, he was thinking Ascot (Scilly Isles) then onto the Mildmay at Aintree at the time, well he missed Ascot for this race so maybe connections said give the Kingmaker a whirl with half an eye on going to the festival.

I think if Lulamba is seen as a 2 and a half miler, he should be winning this snuggly with the ground being the perfect equaliser

Lulamba winning well.

Didn't look an easy race on official ratings but he's put that to bed really nicely, IMO

To keep going in that ground too, yes, he will probably be very good over further, but as a 5 year old, he's pretty bloody good already. Whether good enough to beat Kopek, I've no idea!

Lot of errors there, like an amateur boxer in his first professional contest, his ability is just far beyond those, that experience will put him nicely clear of the opposition in march, better ground and back among novices, he's going to have himself some fun.

What's the verdict from Lulamba backers?

I think, even if he wins the Arkle, he'll look beat at some point. Won't be an easy watch.

I'll probably lay him, and put an inrunning back

Yeah, every race he's looked to be niggled along at some stage but finds plenty.

Can't ask for much more really.

I've not backed Lulamba so say this objectively. It wasn't the round of jumping you'd want to see, but at the same time that will be some experience against experienced chasers for him. Every year that Nicky has a good contender (maybe except Jonbon) there's a couple of little jumping concerns about them, and whether they will be quick enough etc, and they always seem to be fine, so I wouldn't be too worried.

However if I was in the Willie contingent I'd be trying to win that arkle before they get into the straight - set a gallop and try and expose some flaws in him

Looking at the pictures of lulamba being washed down I'd say he's been struck in to.

Proper Machine isn't he. Worthy fav.

I'd be fairly sure half way round they were regretting running him in this.
But he has some engine to do that.
Unless he falls over or really mullers one then he's going to be hard to beat.
Not backed him at all yet.
Kopek only in doubles.

Looks a cut on his front left, just above the hoof at the front from what I screenshotted

Wheres our forum Vet @EnvoiAlien

Ouch. Let's hope he's ok.
Definitely blood in the water.
Nicky was very keen to wave his hands around also, probably didn't want the cameras picking up the cut, for obvious reasons

The worry is that Kargese will jump and set a pace that punishes that round of jumping. It wasn’t just poor, the first half I mean, it was hugely inefficient. He was losing lengths at some.

Strange too as he’s been very good on his two previous starts.

Some engine though.
