2026 Novice Hurdlers

Think they said Haydock was the plan. It'll be a worry if there's no entry.

OPS has been the most impressive novice performance so far for me this season.
I wouldn't worry at all. Hendo is a master of getting them there after a long break. In fact, as a backer, I'd prefer it.

I'd like to see him again tbh. Can't remember Hendo going to Cheltenham with many novices off such a long break.

….Sober;

Mullins’ assistant, David Casey, said: “He had a break after Ascot and I thought he might need a bit further, but I suppose his Flat class told and he put it to bed well. I’m very happy with what he did.

“Paul said he quickened very well, he probably quickened a little bit more than he expected but he was delighted with him. A truer-run race would probably suit him as well and hopefully he’ll improve plenty and keep going forward.

“He’s in the two-mile race at the Dublin Racing Festival but my guess is he won’t go there as it’s too close.

“He jumped a bit sketchy at the first but after that Paul said he was good.”

Sober is a 16-1 shot with Coral for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, while Casey suggested he could later revert to the Flat.

He added: “He could end up back at Ascot again and is owned by Australians, so he could head out there in November (for the Melbourne Cup).”

Wouldn't be surprised to see OPS go straight there. He's had two runs and a spin around Cheltenham. Altior won in December and then went straight there so perhaps he'll do the same ?
Altior also had four hurdle starts by that stage including a grade 2 win over course and distance. Shishkin is the only winner in last 14 years not to win a graded race prior to the Supreme. He had 4 starts (in practise) and had won the listed Sidney Banks by 11 lengths prior to the Festival.

Anyone heard anything new in the last few days, Davy Crockett out to 60 on the machine

?? Your was about the market at that point … so unless you’re a time traveller, you were telling porkies.
Could see the way it was going though. Willie's were 11/8 JT favs a couple of days previous and Gordon's a lot bigger

….Sober (and The Reverend) 25-1 Sup in Hills Road to Cheltenham specials.

The Reverand surprisingly unfancied even though he's one of very few Mullins Novices to have won/impressed this season as well as getting an all important DRF entry. Odd.

Time to back Fou De Toi and hope he gets entered in a maiden soon I reckon. Probably be 10s on entry the way this is shaping up 😂

His Cheltenham run was on the new course? I personally think the difference between the 2 courses is not so relevant for the Supreme but am happy to be corrected.

I
Yeah saw that. I had him down (initially) for turners or spud race, but the way the 2 milers are going, could be the one for the supreme?. Question is, how many more Mullins 2m novices can I back before one actually steps up on their second run 😂😂
agree chasing Mullins number 1 is getting expensive!

His jumping to the right put me off him for now

Sober wasn't bad today

Quickened past Road Exile at the push of a button, was sketchy jumping first circuit at a crawl but much better on the 2nd circuit, will improve a tonne as he's not been seen for a while. Not saying he's the Supreme winner or out but he was impressive today. Road Exile put away Byrnes' horse with ease at Navan and he came out and bolted up today, so fair yardstick all the same.

He's definitely top of the pile from what we've seen upto now thats for sure.

On Old park star, he's definitely one to keep an eye on, as I have been doing past week or so on the exchange - 6s best on sportsbook but getting matched 12s on BFX now. Might just be the FW effect, but he's hardly strong for the other race aswell, you'd want to see him in the entries for that race they have earmarked. (y)

Skylight Hustle has drifted out in a few places for the Supreme. Has something been said that I have missed? 18/1 is the biggest price for the Turners. Is this the theory of El Cairos going Supreme and Skylight Turners to keep them apart?
