2026 Novice Hurdlers

….Sober a general 20-1 for Sup and Turn after that win.

King Rasko with just the one entry in Dublin over 2 miles looks more interesting now after getting his form franked just then.

Riskabahia is a dodge pot. Went out like a light. The writing was on the wall early with the drift.

Yup. Doubled in price pre race, pulled her way hard enough early. Found nothing. Strange for ruby to say beforehand that she may still need the race, but wait her way, disappointing.

Thought he did it well especially off such a long lay off. Willie rarely sends one to the race without a recent run and the market thought he'd need it too. Reckon he'll go to the Supreme. Whether it'll be as Willie's Number 1 I wouldn't like to say.

‘He quickened really well," the winning jockey told Racing TV. "He sorted himself out and put himself right at the last, then was good out to the line. He's a good individual.

"He raced in my hands a little bit (following a slightly mistake at the first hurdle) but we were going so slowly. It'll be a while since he raced at that speed.

"I wanted a lead for as long as possible. At the same time, it had been such a tactical affair, I didn't want to go to the last a length down and then miss it or something silly happen. I said I'd try and put it to bed.

"He travelled better, sweeter, and enjoyed it more (than on hurdling debut) today. It was a nice performance. I hadn't seen him for a long time and he can improve plenty. I liked the willingness he showed, after the first, to take on his hurdles, and he enjoyed it today and got a good experience. It'll do his confidence good."

Road Exile will improve for an extra 5 miles was my main take away from that.
He was smashed in wasn't he with Willies going the other way. They were expecting better than that I reckon. Once again the Irish Novices really don't look all that. Perhaps it's the turn of the Other side this year.

Yeah saw that. I had him down (initially) for turners or spud race, but the way the 2 milers are going, could be the one for the supreme?. Question is, how many more Mullins 2m novices can I back before one actually steps up on their second run 😂😂

Don't bother would be my answer

If we assume Willie don;t run either of the 2 that ran today.
And we ignore all the runners that have been poor when upped in grade (divin enfant, st baco)
His 4 main unblemished darts for the Dublin 2 mile race seem to be

The Reverend
King Rasko Grey
Davy Crockett
You Proof

There is also Sortudo (unlikely)

You Proof and Reverend also have 2m 6f entries in Dublin, and You Proof looks much more likely for that race I'd say, considering the maiden he ran in.

Doctor Steinberg who looks to have the best form of all his novices only has an entry in the 2m 6f race also.

I'd reckon as it stand that Townend will ride Dr Steinberg and one of King Rasko and the Reverend.

Lot of shit to happen yet though
And FWIW I think he don;t win the 2 mile race in Dublin anyhow, unless the "others" don't turn up for some reason.

Despite my will to always try and grab the supreme winner at fancy prices to kick the festival off with a bang, in the supreme I’ve usually found the horse who’s posted the highest rating beforehand wins (I’m not a ratings judge at all) so may just roll up on the day with this approach! (Although this year there mightn’t be a stand out 😂😂)

Fir me, Old Park Star wins the Supreme. Visually, comfortably the most impressive performance I've seen this season from a Novice. It's Coming Home.

Old Park Star has taken a little bit of a walk on the exchanges the last few days for the Supreme.

Had anything been said on him?

I’m seeing a surprising static market … Sober solid at 5/4, Road Exile solid at 6/4 and Free Spirt shortening solid at 4/1. Barely moved form overnight
Just seen this........ummmmmmm

been watching closely, looks like it's the interest in the Ricci horse that's entered this week Fire warning.
Thats my assessment anyhow.
Makes me think none of his are good enough to be fair.
We'll see if he's entered tomorrow for haydock.

Wouldn't be surprised to see OPS go straight there. He's had two runs and a spin around Cheltenham. Altior won in December and then went straight there so perhaps he'll do the same ?

Think they said Haydock was the plan. It'll be a worry if there's no entry.

OPS has been the most impressive novice performance so far for me this season.
