Have to disagree here. JP's horses take plunges at all times of the year. The forum was privvy to one on these last year when we all got on Fact To File for the Ryanair in October at sexy prices. That all came from JP's money. (and a tip ;))

JP won't have even won a tenth of his F2F winnings antepost compared to what he put on the day. It takes next to no £ to move a horses price in an antepost market. This forum could've moved F2Fs price on its own, it's not a JP plunge.

He remained quite steady anyway from memory. I took 16s pre season (trumpet yes but obviously it's the only reason I was monitoring his price properly) but I remember him being decent prices anyway (single figures mind) until the DRF where it became clear he wasn't going to run in the GC.

Not in a million years was it decided that Fact to File was going for the Ryanair back in October.
That's just daft to even think that way.
I'd be amazed if JP had any sort of bet on at that stage.

All that happened was that people with any common sense thought it could end up the option after his runs in open company.
And someone in the yard or connected said or thought similar which is again completely normal.
It was obviously a possibility and he was priced wrong in the early season which added to the attraction.

“He came back from Haydock quite sore on his sacroiliac joint, which we had medicated the Monday after, it seems to have really helped.

“Obviously it’s quite a big ask off top-weight over that trip, but hopefully he might be the class horse in the race and he’ll give it a good shot.

“I don’t think it’s going to be extremes of ground either way and he’s got form on all sorts of ground, so I’m not too worried what it turns up like.”

On what it would mean to win her country’s biggest race, the Pembrokeshire handler added: “It would be brilliant. It’s a race we’ve tried a few times to win and Teaforthree just failed (beaten half a length by Monbeg Dude in 2013). It would be great to have it on the CV.”

F2F into 11/4 with Boyle Sports for Savilles
 
Just been down and taken a position on Fastorslow. It's a pretty open market and has the form in the book and is back fit again. Lightly enough raced and I anticipate a big run in the Savills. Might be the only chance to get a decent price.

‘I think you would be daft not to go to the Gold Cup now if he comes out of it well and what a race that will be as well. People crib him for jumping left, but when he goes right handed he is as straight as a die. He is just a bit of a character with a big engine and big heart.’
 
Like the Champion Hurdle market after todays Christmas Hurdle, the King George should have very little bearing on the Gold Cup market. Another track record despite the slow early pace. Every horse in contention turning for home. How do you determine who was outpaced and who was failing to stay? In my opinion they all stayed as should be expected considering the ground conditions and the way the race was run. The only thing you do know is that The Jukebox Man will now be targeted at a Gold Cup. Any of those in behind could go either race. Gaelic Warrior did little wrong so think the double figures on him is generous.

Good point re: who was outpaced and or stayed on

I do a fair bit on Horse Pedigrees for the KG and Gold Cup, as there are some really strong patterns which I found useful to try and understand who was outpaced vs outstayed

Gaelic Warrior (-0.27) and Jango Baie’s (-0.25) pedigree/dosage points toward strong stayers, whereas banbrigde (-0.06) and jukebox (0.05)

To share some examples

KG horses winner typically have CD index in the positive or very close to zero- S Contil (0.00), Clan Des Obeaux (0.20)

Gold Cup winners typically have CD index in the minus - Galophin (-0.20), Al Boum (-0.50),

Now, this isn’t 100% and there has been outliner, but i do think it useful as part of the shortlist process

So for me, I think and have marked up by Jango Baie and Gaelic Warrior performances ahead of the King George when looking forward for a potential Gold Cup winner, as I think both are stayers and where outpaced today, and I wouldn’t really be touching The Jukebox Man as I have him as a speedy 3 miler, and best performances to date have been on flat tracks. Only time he ran at the festival, he was outstayed in the AB which helps align my thoughts

Pauling thinks it would be daft not to go gold cup now.
Mullins also mentioned gold cup for Gaelic
To my eye that didn’t look a gold cup trial at all
Especially for jukebox
I’ve taken the 12-1 Ryanair but expect the ground would need to come up soft for them to opt out of gold cup now as they’re clearly excited and offering a different tone to early season plans.
Good luck to them.

I thought banbridges king George looked more gold cup style myself and he got stuffed at the festival in a completely different test

Great stuff, certainly think it is on the right lines. Don't think Gaelic Warrior did much wrong. Jango Baie has shortened for the Gold Cup after finishing 4th which is a little surprising. I don't see why they are roughly the same price though. Gaelic Warrior has the back form with this being Jango's first season outside novice company.

I'd take Jango out of the race for the GC. Bookies look to have taken the same view.
