2026 Mares Hurdle

Agree completely with Darlo. You'd just be very likely wasting the win bet of the EW and betting for just 1 place IMO. Much better to wait until the day and back her in the without market if she actually runs ?
Or bet with the extra place firms if you can, there will always be offers and value on the day….

Last poor mares novice was probably tellmesomethingirls year.
She was also routed at Punchestown after the Fez and then lost her 2 runs out of novice company in disappointing fashion, before returning for the mares (admittedly a weaker on the day than next years might prove to be, but it wouldn't take much for this years to weaken either, with one or 2 absences for whatever reason)
Her SP on the day that year was 4-1 and she got brought down.
The talk of without the favourite and extra places is moot really, cos there is no doubt that the race will be without many in the current market in any case. Been around too long to not appreciate how much these races can change over the months ahead.
I'd be a happy with a run from any of my bets at this stage, never mind owt else.

Probably the best way of looking at it is...

Name me another horse that won at the festival in it's category that is available at even close to 50-1 for it's most likely race next year ?
Compared to Kopek des Bordes & A New Lion it's a steal.
Only one I can think of is Lecky Watson (33's) and I've backed him also 😊

I get the reasons why some won't bother as stated before, but all the reasoning ignores the obvious value IMO.
She basically should be no bigger than about 20-1 right now and today's race should not have made a difference.
But B365 have dangled a carrot. I've bitten, and I'm not betting half as much this season for various reasons.

….as per ‘out for the season’ thread, Lady Vega Allen confirmed as retired. A general 16-1 for this.

Air Of Entitlement

We were obviously delighted with her at Cheltenham last March, when she won the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle. She was probably a little disappointing at Fairyhouse on Tuesday when she finished second in a rated hurdle, but hopefully she’ll be able to find her form through the season and progress again.

With the possibility of Lossiemouth greater now of running in the champion hurdle than yesterday the 50/1 being dangled by 365 for Air of Entitlement looks even more appetising

And with Wodhooh rerouted from Hattons Grace to Ascot Saturday it could look even better depending on result/post race comments

Super Mare. She's really good isn't she and really tough.

I'd agree with that, with an Asterix of if JDG ends up slotting back in, she'll give Wodhooh a race.
I think she'd pull all over JDG. The issue is for me, do they chance her in the Champion Hurdle?

I'll go one further, I'd say Wodhooh looks to have more speed than Lossiemouth, so would have a better chance in the CH than Lossie imo.

No chance she goes Champ
Gordy learnt his lesson with BDA.
I’d agree with this, think she’d get left behind in a champion, she stays, was evident today. Have to say, that jump at the last was as slick as you’d want.

I think the aintree race and finishing speeds would suggest that's not really the case, added to the fact that the champion hurdle requires speed and stamina.

Gordon has said he won't be coming down from that trip there today.

I trust him . Just needs Willie to say the opposite now and she's a good bet 😂
