2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup

Colin Tizzard on his Gold Cup horses:

I don’t know if I’ve ever had a pecking order! Let’s hope we can run all five there, shall we? That’d be good fun. I’m just so proud to have these horses. They’re going to run together and then you’ll see for yourself which is the best. I wouldn’t have a clue. It’s just good to have them in form

A wonderful and refreshing attitude to have. Would be interesting if he had of had a high profile stable jockey at this time, say for instance Ruby Walsh if he had of been able to keep this stance though! :devilish:

Deserves his chance after looking at Douvans arse all those times

Good effort that Kev. I took 20/1 with Betfair Sportsbook immediately after the race. Both have good Cheltenham form and go on any ground.

I'm not convinced he'll stay the GC trip but that's a nice voucher to be holding Kev, you could even trade out and make money

I dont think my 50-1 ticket on Minella Rocco will be getting a run in the Gold cup after that. :(

Would like to have learned more...

Me too Zipiter, and the fact the partnership between horse and pilot hasn't remained intact twice in short time is a big worry.
Only upside is that he'll get to Cheltenham fresh, if they take their chance....

Ive watched it a few times again. It looked like he actually stepped into the fence and catapulted Aidan giving him no chance. Better than a fall...but still not the round I was hoping for.

Be interesting to see how they juggle the Gigginstown horses. They have a number of horses that deserve their place in the Gold Cup but no doubt they will want strong representation in their race.

Fair play to Giggs though, if they have 3 or 4 or 5 horses that suit the race they'll run them all, O'leary and JP very similar in that regard.
And that is my single biggest criticism of Ricci, will only ever run one in a race which means some quality horses simply end up in filling in the gaps....

I was quite impressed withSizing John, I was quite gutted I missed the 25s for Ryanair, but I would be gutted if I had that voucher now as surely it heads to Gold Cup after that.
Still prefer Outlander out of the two, but Sizing John has to enter the picture after that.

Will probably leave it quite late now before I do anything in this race... I reckon he'll be single figures a few days before... or as soon as the target is confirmed. He isn't the most likely winner for me but with 2 pts each way at 33s at the moment I'd be roaring him home! :)

Got pretty much all angles covered now in the race ... shortest priced runner I haven't got covered is Bristol De Mai and there is 33/1 about him available... then Smad Place and Silvi Conti at 66/1 .... not in any rush to back any of them and I can't see anything other than Cue Card shortening significantly now, and I'm already on that at a bigger price. (Added a £25 free bet to Native River to strengthen my currently weak position on him for anyone keeping track)

I guess the most important thing for me to do now, is to work out the best way for me to lock in the profits OR, lay off my stakes and decide which couple I REALLY want running for me? OR a healthy combination of those...

How many you backed in this Kev? There are 10 in the betting ahead of BDM - do you win from all horses or are some just savers?

I posted everything a few weeks back. Probably more than 10! I'll do an update if I get chance tonight. (Not including any multiples) but at the time I think it was only native river that was a loss

You'll be the envy of the forum :encouragement:

Wait till you're married....

:eek::highly_amused::highly_amused:

I might be [the envy] for this race, but a week or so before when I lay out every single bet I've had, we'll see :very_drunk:
