2022 Arkle

Disappointed Emma Lavelle has decided to send Red Rookie here, thought he had a good chance in the Grand Annual.

Not really sure why being the rag in a grade 1 would be more appealing than having a chance to win a festival handicap, but maybe they’ll prove me wrong on Tuesday.

Think they've been sucked into this argument that its not a vintage renewal etc. That said, anything that means double figure fields in the graded races shouldn't be sniffed at. We've seen plenty of outsiders run into places. He was on my Grand Annual shortlist as well.

I thought the same when they ran putthekettleon here not in the novice handicap

I prefer Blue Lord to Edwardstone here. Edwardstone has been disappointing at the festival whereas BL ran well in last year's Supreme - wouldn't have beaten Appreciate It but would have been well clear of the rest. Edwardstone has looked good but I think Blue Lord has beaten better horses.

Being a novice chase you can get some big prices to do well - Pipe won it with a 33/1 shot a few years ago and Eldorado Allen was a 33/1 2nd behind Shishkin. Gabynako beat Fury Road well earlier in the season and I've been impressed by Magic Daze's jumping. 2mile on the Old Course may be ok for her.

Selection: Blue Lord
e/w value: Gabynako, Magic Haze

Betfair Sportsbook offer: money back up to ?10 if your horse loses in the Arkle. Qualifying bets from midday yesterday. Win part only refunded. If you are on the basic rewards package, you aren't eligible for the offer.

Riviere D'etel at 9/2 with 4 places is just too hard to resist.

I really cannot work this race out, I was thinking of doing Blue lord, but then HEC which could be anything still. Edwardstone looks good and since going over fences looks even better. Couer Sublime could be up there, Riveria D'etel I just have no idea about either. For me at the moment its just a watch race personally.

The top of the market is so weak. Edwardstone 3/1, Blue Lord might tough 5/1 soon. Great betting race. Lots of blue for HEC and Coeur Sublime

From nowhere I've found myself being drawn towards haut en couleurs, started out liking riviere d'etel, then liking the look of magic daze and now hec !

You know what, I am gonna do a punt and just go with Blue Lord. I can't let go of that 9/2 it's too bigger price, I was going to do this horse before and near to the build up and just seeing that win at the DRF I've been unsure but it just seems to be the most solid selection.

Said nobody on this forum ever :highly_amused:

Only teasing - some races are best watched. BO v GDC a good example.

It feels like a win for me if I don't lose, but I'll be cheering my mates bets and knowing him he will be playing Sedgefield also:excitement:

Yup, I’m on the Magic Daze train tomorrow

its all about the going for me + how fresh the ground is. Dry winter, ground will ride quick for good to soft.
Magic Daze to bounce out, if she jumps well then she could have most of these under pressure, and making mistakes

Old course will suit, less taxing on stamina. Should be able to get 1-2 breathers as the field look around for the “dangers” - the favs

I’m on

Saint Sam for me each way at 8s.

hood back on, will be settled off a good pace and has the stamina to stay on better than most of these up the hill. Went too hard at the DRF and still only got beat 4.5L coming back at them at the line. Ran a cracker giving Jeff Kidder a stone last year aswell.

Edwardstone & Riviere both had 5 runs this year, Not sure you can peak here on your 6th run of the season.

Blue Lord is a bit soft I think as is Coeur Sublime. Semi-common knowledge that HEC has schooled badly since his fall at the DRF so no thanks on him.
Magic Daze won’t get her own way in front and will be too fresh I think.
Gabynako is a guessy jumper but if he gets his jumping together can see him running a good race at a price.

Blue Lord 3rd fav in places!
Middle_Of_March going to be going nuts.

5/1 (4 places) with 365 on their special boosts.

Can anyone ignore that?!

Astonishing. Absolutely astonishing. Am on at the big prices as he crossed the line on his chasing debut but have had a go again as these current prices are bonkers.

Nice winner for me is Blue Lord, but I am a tad concerned that his trainer has others in the race that could have gone Turners.
Does he think he needs more than BL? Does he know they can’t beat GDC? And he’s ultra confident of beating BO?
Maybe a bit of all three?
Anyway, all very interesting and intriguing to me.
