The Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle

I thought he was going to get a DRF entry but when he never I assumed he was being kept back for next season.

Yeah, always the tough call with RR's horses.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was one Scooby91 has put up too? Maybe he can let us know his thoughts if he gets time :encouragement:

Seems like there were quite a few waiting on the Gaelic Warrior entry, absolute sea of blue for him today, 20/1 into 10/1-14/1.

Is this the season WPM breaks his Fred Winter duck. GW is certainly by the right sire, to do so. He loves a Cheltenham juvenile winner :highly_amused:

I put him up at 25s for this in Sept/October... with this exact plan.. route...

The betting is not likely to help his mark now tbf... and I know what it was... prior to the obvs re-asessing now.

16th Oct... to be exact...but I'd mentioned it well prior... with the runs of others around him...

Will he get re-assessed based on the betting then? How does that work?

was putting off backing him myself as like Madmoose noted above, I was wondering if he was one for next season. Given the entry, I guess not now.

Because the marks not final... so they can adjust and do, when one becomes particularly interesting in the market... as this.. unfortunately for me... now has.

They have done the same last season with the mcneil horse for the KM who would have got in but for all the chat and being heavily backed... so they adjusted before final... which they're entitled to do

Entitled yes, not very professional though :highly_amused: When punters think they've found a good one they can chuck on a few extra lbs. Their job is to rate them correctly in the first place, surely?

I thought the Escaria Ten scandal from last season was to do with the days crossing over, it ran on the Sunday and connections were told 145 from the handicapper on the Monday but then it transpired that the handicapper gave the rating without taking into account the form of the Sunday race, but he got 2lbs for that in the end and went to 147? Didn't realise it had anything to do with the betting.

Escaria was 100% in, I know for a fact...

No worries, thanks for confirming about Gaelic Warrior too, hopefully mark isn't affected too much and he makes it with a serious chance still :greedy_dollars:

And the issue here is people are backing without knowing the mark... at bigger prices take a chance...

at current, absolutely not...

i know what the mark of G.W is from October... so I'll know the difference what it's been re-adjusted too aswell...

What was/is it? Or is that something you'd like to keep private.

Iberique Du Seuil entered up at Donny in a handicap so we'll get a mark for him too.

Thats the way it happened, at the time ComplyOrDie

He was given 140 by the GB capper, but it didnt include his run on the Sunday, as the GB capper only rates horses up to the Saturday, for the following Tuesday.

So he got 140, then when they reassessed for the Grade 3 second place on the Sunday he was raised to 147.

Thats the way a GB horse would be assessed, maybe if they come from overseas it could be different.

From memory Scooby had something to do with chasing up the GB capper about the mark, as he mentioned above.

140 was obviously wrong given the Sunday form with Eklat de Rire and Pencilfulloflead.
Off 140 in the Kim Muir he would've been the handicap bet of the Festival.

I remember wearing my finger pads out when I knew he was 140, backing him for the KM, then having to quickly cashout when the news of the weights situation came out.

Some FJ folk lost their Bet365 accounts with those bets/cashouts too, a very bleak day.

I won't go in to any detail.. as dosen't matter now tbf... but he was provisionally re-asessed to 145...

everyone posting on twitter and the like that he was the best handicapped horse since sliced bread.. sent him up to 147 as final... agreed between UK and Irish.. I had the convo at the time.

More fool the folk who go on Twitter bragging.

Thanks Scooby91 - for that timely reminder, with handicap entries and weights to come in a months time.

Hopefully all FJ members can take heed at that mess, and not go on Twitter for a show off, when they see a well handicapped horse. :dejection:

Think i remember you saying this last year scooby, found it amazing then and still now. Its a shame it doesn't seem to work the other way round. It would be great to bad mouth a mark back down.
