Yeah I was stuck between adding Champion Green or Max Mayhem who runs this weekend but ended up siding with CG as looking through his form of his last race, the 3rd that day which is also Josephs' has won his maiden hurdle beating doctor brown bear who ran 3rd today and Champion Green won well on his final flat run easily accounting for Max Mayhem.

Went to check Josephs tour and Champion Green was mentioned but nothing regarding MM, so it's an educated risky bet. :boxing:

Early season interviews with Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden suggested that they were both very sweet on Matterhorn. Nicholls described him as a nice chaser in the making so I think they will mind him this season and not run him in a race frequently described by him as a 'cavalry charge'. Magistrato is probably their Triumph horse but IMO needs to improve to challenge the likes of Fil Dor.
 
horse in 2nd ran a very good race there I think, trained by meade so potentially another Jeff Kidder for the boodles?
 
Not as impressive as first time out, but that attitude will serve him well up the hill.
 
Not much out there to beat him as of yet but I'd be willing to oppose him all day at the price. Porticello is all I have in the book as of now.

Will surely get too high of a rating for the Fred Winter. I think he'll be a Triumph horse tbh.

Meade also had a juvenile out the other day that won in the same colours as Jeff Kidder that will most likely go to the FW
 
I liked that from Fil Dor, cruises along, knows how to battle, lovely jump at the last. Not sure he's the winner of this but most are on at or had chance to be on at fancy prices so if he makes it to the day itself you'll be in with a nice live chance. The first 2 were well clear of the rest and I feel like there was a decent bit left in the tank, i'd like to see him to the front earlier like his first run. Overall it was pleasing stuff.
 
Very likeable performance from FD. Give him the hill and we'll see him at his best. Can't back the runner-up as its N.Meade.
 
Horse in second looked very useful and had a much better run in. Fil Dor had to reposition a couple of times from 3 out. I’d be marking him up slightly for that run.

Interested to see what Willie has got!

Parmenion and Vauban, whenever they come out
 
On a line through Lunar power makes me slightly more confident in my iberique de sueil bets, hes obviously a good horse and maybe there isnt much seperating fil dor and iberique as the betting would suggest
 
Davys body language did suggest he was pretty confident

wasnt overly impressive but they did pull miles clear

Next time will tell us more
 
Two nice horses that'll surely meet again at some point before March. I thought the second looked useful and may improve, but the winner was still the one to take out of the race. It looked as though there was more in the locker if he needed it.

I agree Fil Dor's price is hateful. As has already been said, let's see Willie's best darts for this race. And don't forget In This World was just as impressive and has already beaten Fil Dor with something to spare in France, and has had a very pleasing UK debut for the Skelton's. Hopefully we'll see him turn up in the Juvenile at Cheltenham in a couple of weeks. I was also quite impressed with Knight Salute from the unfashionable Milton Harris stable.

In This World and Too Friendly are decent ones for Dan Skelton.

No doubt black type races coming for them soon.

Parmenion one I'm looking forward to Willie running soon.

The Fil Dor price is phoney, I can understand Bet365 cutting him as they offered a first show of 66/1 and FJ folk ploughed into that and got it cut pre-Down Royal - so they have large price liabilities.

The rest of the bookies are truly pathetic shortening from 5s and 6s after that.

Christmas Grade 2 next up for FD I would think , and todays runner-up.

Rewatching it he won easier than I thought at the time

Davy only gave him one proper hit and he was hands and heels to the line and well on top

Gordon says hes a very relaxed horse so likely not the type to win by miles unless its against vastly inferior opposition

Wouldnt back him at his current price but happy enough with the performance
 
Fil Dor's current odds 6s best price can only be judged on each of his runs (3 to date) he is beating the best of what we have seen across the Irish sea so what if this lightly raced showed further improvement what price should it be if that were the case, 6s may look a steal in time.
