Fat Jockey Farewells (NH)

Presenting Percy. His RSA win was one of my favourite moments at the fez. RIP to a fav too many FJ followers.

A sad day losing Presenting Percy :sorrow:

Faugheen, Benie Des Dieux and the mighty Douvan all being retired by RR. What might have been with Douvan only for injury..

Faugheen was probably the first horse I truly followed from bumper all the way through his career.

Telling my dad he would beat Red Sherlock in the ballymore is probably the first time I proved him wrong about horses ever and turned tide for our tipping relationship!

However I am truly gutted about Douvan, I will argue for the rest of my life he should have been better than Altior, and I hate that people bring up the 2017 CC as a reason for him being overrated. The horse had a broke bloody pelvis! So quick away from his fences and devoured the hill. I bloody loved that horse.

Faugheen - I geniunely feel like my best friend has joined the boat to travel with the elves to the undying lands

Injury robbed off of perhaps his very peak - but then he did also go on to place in a stayers Hurdle and a Marsh. What an animal

Faugheen gave me my best ever day on a racecourse. He was unbeatable in his prime and I'd have him as the best champion hurdler since Istabraq. If they'd gone over fences earlier I think he'd have won a Gold Cup too.

A well earned retirement for all three. :love_heart:

I will never forget the roar for Faugheen when he won the flogas at the DRF in 2020, still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand thinking about. Not ashamed to say I had a tear in my eye when he came into the winning enclosure that day. What a horse, I am so thankful and grateful I seen his last win live.

Happy retirement for all 3 horses.

I wonder if when Ricci finishes they'll class it as an 'era'. He really has owned some behemoths of the NH game.

Incredibly fond memories of Faugheen, Benie and Douvan - very popular and always seemed relevant!

Jamie Codd has retired

Edit: It's been clarified that he will continue to ride under Rules but has ridden in his last point-to-point, having partnered his 972nd winner in that sphere this afternoon.

Sadly Top Notch lost his life today after surgery failed on a ruptured stomach.

Tough little warrior, RIP

Was gutted to read this - I have very fond memories of him coming second in the Triumph in 2015 when I was on my stag do at the course, and always loved watching him run, what a tremendous and battling career the wee fella had. Will be greatly missed

The Listener has died at age 22, he was a horse I remember from when I first got into racing back in mid 2000s, watched him on ATR win the Lexus.

What a legend. Favourite Altior memory anyone?
