Cheltenham November Meeting Antepost discussion

With you guys here, I'm torn and mainly because I'm on Saint Sonnet with a AP bet so difficult right now to really put my name on something with confidence

This rain aswell could be a headache

I really want someone that ran already this season, unless they have proven form going well fresh I really dont want to back it - which means the top 3-4 should be scratched but I have a feeling that approach will haunt me

Surprisingly, I'm liking Coole Cody who could be hiding under his handicap mark

The more I look at Slate House the more I want to back him, and it annoying me! He's one of those horses, I back him he loses, I lay him he wins. FFS. Colin's yard appears to be needing a run so I really cant be having him - the remote will be going in the direction of the Tele if Slate House powers through the field to lead over the last

:-)

Get in :)

Son of camas, another value loser& seemingly not fit.Enjoyed the racing but not from my wallets point of view this last 48 hours. Hope others have faired better.

Allavina drifting, but I'm going to play it, hasn't had a run (when all horses this weekend with a run under there belt this season) but I'm going to play it anyway lol
Oh well. Last one, might as well go with a crazy one in this bumper
Liking the form of her last race - swing in weights should help

Hes run poorly every time on soft ground

Not sure how the second didnt win that

The jock kicked a long long way from home

Iv had far too many seconds these two days, must be 5 now I think

Just backed her at 15/8 to beat Martello Sky who she bet last time... (Betfred)

Will Discorama be wanting to win his race tomorrow , He looks to have a solid chance but I wonder if he is going to want to keep his handicap mark where it is. If he grinds out a win, how many lbs would he be likely to get?

Wasn't planning on softish ground till tomorrow when placed etc i still think he's a decent horse but the excuses are mounting and will have to watch him for next start or two now.

He has tried and reached the podium every time he has come over so i don't see why they wouldn't again tomorrow.

Problem for discorama is he seems to make a couple of crucial jumping errors in every race

Just noticed that robbie power rode west approach in this race last year when it won so the jockey booking is a good sign.. conditions fine too. Hasnt't won a race for 2 years but im on board, heres hoping this between trip is the kiddy he wants !

Feels like West Approach has won more recently than that. Yeah, he's on my radar. Robbie also booked on Shutter, bottom weight and appears to have been backed in

Heavy, testing ground, always like to look for good jockeys being booked on bottom weights

The Shutter, moved to new trainer earlier this season
Steward enquiry was held about the ride, rider was mentioning how connection knew he had a wind problem and heard him choke. Since then, he's gone on to run extremely well over middle distance. I would have loved to seen him have a wind off, but noticed they have put a tongue tie on - first time.

Will be backing him

Actually, no... will hold fire until the morning. He just doesnt fit the profile of a greatwood winner

PROSCHEMA - Greatwood Hurdle, 3pm Cheltenham, Sunday.

Looking through the Greatwood field today for potential soft ground horses due to forecast rain throughout the day at Cheltenham, I can see that the lowly weighted PROSCHEMA (Dan Skelton) will appreciate it.

He has had a prep, which I watched back, and he was held up in rear finishing well but not catching the strong finishing leader, to finish 2nd.
The race winner has won since.

The race was a 2M handicap hurdle at Wetherby, coincidentally the same race that the stables Superb Story ran in and won in 2015 before coming a close second in the Greatwood Hurdle (then put away for 4 months and winning the County Hurdle next time out).

Maybe the stable learned a valuable lesson from 2015 as Superb Story won well at Wetherby, but went up 9lb for the Greatwood, and was only beaten 2 lengths.
However in his case he needed all that weight rise to get in the race.

This time Proschema was nursed around in rear, and went up just 3lb, to 131, for finishing runner-up.

Proschema was/is rated 102 on the flat, and a 1M4F-1M6F horse whose two wins on the flat were both on soft ground.
His hurdles win last autumn was also on soft ground.

He had a year off after disappointing against Ribble Valley when favourite last November, after a busy 2019 (9 flat/jumps races) and the long break and a summer off, could have freshened him up, and allow him the improvement on his current rating that is required to be involved in the finish of the Greatwood.

Great write up

I have him the top of my ratings, by at least 3lbs and expect improvement from him.
I would have preferred to back a horse that has ran at Cheltenham but feels like connections gave him a rest following defeat (think he ran too soon after his win over heavy) and have targeted for this race

Was eye catching on re-appearance, that run should have put him right for this race

I have Ballyandy behind him with my ratings, with Milkwood and Strong Glance.

I do like him

This is what I put on here a few days ago

Greatwood - hate putting up the fav but trainer focussing on winning big one this season
Proschema
Unexposed, down in the weight, ran well on first run, trainer and jockey combo a big plus

The Big [SUP]Getaway[/SUP] (I meant Breakaway)

I really want to back this horse tomorrow, I think that Ballymore form is rock solid.... maybe it is for the Irish lot that finished in the top 3 - I have no doubt they will all be featuring at the Festival. 4th in that race, The Big Getaway.

The jockey is red hot at the moment. The trainer is not!
As much as I'd like to load up on this horse, I just can't back it first time out at that price

...but arhhhhhh... getting weight!!!
