RSA Chase 2020

Could we be disrespecting Sam Spinner here ?
Jumped as well as any staying novice I've seen for a long while and ran a very good horse ragged.
This horse was fav for a stayers hurdle 2 years ago and got closer to Paisley Park than anyone in last seasons renewal.
I'm no fan of the trainer but what SS has shown on the course this year he looks to be a serious RSA contender to me....

We must have been watching a different race. Early on he was awkward and keen, his jumping dramatically improved but still out to his right, at the 6th he puts right down into it in what was nearly a race ending mistake. He did well enough in the end and maybe I’m underrating him but RSA, not for me

yes,
I think young Joe Colliver is now a gelding after yesterday.

This surely wins the post of the year award. Brilliant stuff. LMFAO.

Deffinately being overlooked all year, everytime he wins he gets excused as going for the NH chase, looks ideal for it etc...

Ignore him at your peril.
There is no doubt at all that he is going for the RSA, and also no doubt he's in with a very live chance. You can never rule out a horse who hits the line as hard as he does. He'd be a classier version of blaklion who got up and mugged shaneshill.

Why he's not 2nd fav I couldnt tell you. Because he'd have no issue dispatching battleoverdoyen imo.

In fact I could tell you, its connections alone.

Great comparison that with Blaklion. What a gutsy little horse he was.

The Joe miracle aside I didn't see anything in his jumping to concern me.
Horses can't meet every obstacle on a stride, slowing into it, putting himself straight and popping over is not an error, for me it demonstrates intelligence, and after the mistake he flew every fence.
Champ has made mistakes with his jumping but responded well and that's the 7/2 market leader.
I've taken some 20/1 and thrown SS in a trix with Hazel Hill and Thyme Hill

Pained me to concede Champ was the most likely winner, which he is, but SS over BOD, nope.

No doubt he goes RSA - sure, trainer said that
Classier version of Blaklion - first person to ever call Sam Spinner classy? Blaklion had won over 3m at Cheltenham by this point
Why is he not 2nd fav - he’s won 2 small field races at Wetherby and WA was beat half way having scoped badly afterward
No issue dispatching BOD - based on.....

Festival record for one :p

I backed Sam Spinner (post #116) and in that said I think I'll go off him :highly_amused: ... which I definitely will.

Under rated perhaps but there is likely going to be a couple too good

Master Tommytucker to take big jump in class and go for Kauto star Chase at Kempton.

Is Ben Paulings Bright Forecast on anyone shortlist for this?

Ran a corker in the ballymore staying on strongly up the straight to be
beaten 4.5 L in 3rd to City Island and Champ after getting out paced coming down the hill.
Looked like he would relish the test in this.

Anyone any news on the this as he hasn't run since Cheltenham .
Is he due to run , has he schooled satisfactorily ?
Is he even healthy :(.

he's had a setback and won't be seen till new year, and therefore likely to stay hurdling, was the last bulletin about 3 weeks back

Battleoverdoyen and Carefully Selected look like going for Neville Hotels Chase.
