Backed him last night @ 15/8 for today, as he needs to win and probably win well, to have any chance of getting in.

I shall then use the profit to maybe have a go at him for this race, should he win well enough today.

Maybe go in before he runs today. If he wins well I can see him going off favourite for this.
 
Added Campeador 16/1 with SkyBet just now.

His only entry is in this race. Will need a little help from the UK handicapper to get in, but that is likely, and even if not, JP has so many entries he can probably pull one or 2 out if need be.

Have been waiting for this one to go up in trip, and finally it seems that time may have come.

It's concerning, and he may have a slight issue (no idea just a guess). Not high profile enough for any announcements.
 
It seems very strange that Nicky Henderson have LDS a glowing appraisal and backed his chances in this race and still his price didn’t move and there are a number of lesser/worse horses ahead of him in the market??

Is interesting for this.
4th in a triumph.
would be first run in handicap and was rated as high as 146 over huirdles.
trainer not high profile so may not get hammered with uk mark, and not been given irish mark yet either.
So weight will be interesting, anything near 140 will be nice.
it's got some nice form overall.
won last time
I think they plan on running it as it's in 6 handicaps.
all novice chases at 2 mile or thereabouts, and reasonable races it ran in.
best hurdle form over further.
wouldn't surprise me if they tried headgear either.
O'connor has been riding, but could be another for Rachel blackmore.

Gonna go back and back it again i'm that convinced.

I've been looking into Ex Patriot and can't quite make a call on the horse myself.

gonna depend on marks I reckon, although you'd imagine it'll be one of the chases, over the longer trip.
Unless they're not happy with his jumping for some reason.

Raceform comment after the Thurles win was complementary about the horses engine but not his jumping.
 
Any chance Castafiore turns up here? Ran a great race yesterday, showed a lot of heart & jumped great.
 
After his recent win Derek O'Connor said on Sky Racing that Ex Patriot ideally wanted 3m and soft ground.
 
Simon Rowlands ATR has put up Duc Des Genievres - will he get into this. I thought he was rated way too high and after his form behind Cilaos Emery and in beating Tower Bridge etc surely the handicapper isn't going to make him 145 or lower is he? From memory he was around 146 already.

Odd selection really? A value non runner :highly_amused:

8/1 NRNB price would be plenty short with Mullins handicap chase record. Couldn't train a horse to win a decent chase outside of novice company at the festibal if his career depended on it :p

Yes... absolutely.

Went off 25/1 for a Grade 1 (Kauto Star) - same price now in a loads easier race than a Grade 1!

The RP comments read:

"Made most to 12th, lost 2nd place 14th, steadily outpaced after, not disgraced"

Not ideal to unseat at 1/5 after that, but coming back in trip, on a mark of 145 so certain to get a run... I can see the appeal. He was good enough to lead La Bague Au Roi which is pacey enough...

The prominent racing style will definitely be a positive in a big field handicap - I know the chap on RP made a case about him and it was something to do with Bags Groove but I'm not sure BG ran his race when Red Indian was ahead so I wouldn't take that literally... but not a negative whichever way you skin it!
