CONRYGREE made his chase debut at the exact same meeting that DAZZLING DANNY WHIZBANG won at yesterday.
Coneygree then went to the Kauto Star Novice chase at Kempton, thats the same race that DAZZLING is going to be winning next. Then it was a run at Newbury for a prep and win the gold cup on his 4th chase start.


Its actually quite possible Nicholls may follow suit as Im sure he would like to have a runner with a chance in the gold cup and DAZZLING DANNY WHIZBANG is the only realistic chance he would have in that race as its higgly unlikely that Cyrname is all of a sudden going to be as good going left handed.

He is certainly physically developed enough and will be a 7yo in the gold cup. If he wins as easily as I expect him to in the Kauto Star then they may have to seriously consider this.

There is no horse in the divison that could give The Legend a race at Cheltenham in March.
Danny Whizzbang would mean we get a Kauto Star vs Denman level of rivalry in the gold cup and the pair would pull clear with The Champ putting it to bed up the hill.

The Legend remains the greatest though in time when age cagches up with the champ then DAZZLING will be waiting in the wings ready to pounce and take Elegant Escapes title as 'The best staying chaser on the planet".

The legend hits a lifetime high rating of 164.

Had Harry Cobden not given the field a 20 length head start at the starting tape and ridden wide the entire way round then we would probably be looking at 170.

We know without doubts he is good enough for gold. The new rating should end any speculation this gold cup champ will go to the grand national.

The ride Harry gave The Legend was almost as if it was done to try and get the horses handicap mark to drop.

BUT THE LEGEND DEFIED HIM

DE RASHER COUNTER is now a 160 rated horse.

The legend was giving this horse 16lb, ran a furlong further than him due to being car park wide all the way around and using tactics that didnt suit the race. De Rasher held the inside and raced prominently, tactics that were suited to the race.

The champ gave 16lb to a 160 horse and only got beat 2 lengths despite an abysmal ride and travelling at least 1 furlong further probably more.

The sublime performance is bubbling up and ready to come, the champ is still improving.

THE FELLOW tried to carry top weight in The Hennessy and was also 3rd. He was beaten over 6 lengths and was given a good ride. He of course went onto win The Gold Cup in spectacular style.
