For me it’ll be Banbridge mark two if they do try to make Iroko a 2 miler
Thoughts of 2m for Iroko are crazy imo. Just watched back his Martin Pipe win and and he was having to be scrubbed along 4f out to keep pace and then stayed on strongly up the hill when not looking the likely winner jumping the last.
It's going to be difficult knowing where JP will want to run Iroko, FTF, Inthepocket and Corbetts Cross and I'm sure he's got others too!

”He has his first run over fences at Warwick on Tuesday over two and a half miles. He obviously kept on improving over hurdles last season and won the Martin Pipe at the Festival. When he goes back to three miles you will see the best of him and he gallops and jumps very well. We can’t wait to get him going and the long-term plan for JP (McManus) would be one of those spring Festivals. He was still inexperienced last season and as soon as we stepped him up in trip he kept winning and got more confidence. He is an exciting prospect going forward.”

Yep, that was why it was odd that the trainer, after today's race, mentioned going back in trip!
I think they've been pretty clear that as a novice and whilst he travels and jumps so well they'll stick to mid trips or shorter.
The 3 mile stuff is for later on, whenever that is.
Typical trainer talk really, as if he continues to win at shorter than 3 then they'll carry on, but once he looks exposed or gets beat, then they can use the trip reason/excuse and go further.
And most horses stay better as they get older anyhow. Because most can stay from the start, they are often just too keen and enthusiastic or naturally quick as younger animals.
However, it's all moot, as Berry will have a say at some point - especially approaching the festivals with other contenders.
At the moment, it looks like they are top heavy in a lot of divisions and so the McManus Bingo era has began.

He'll be better over a fence, he'll be better on Spring ground, he needs it really soft, he'll need a trip in time,
All fair comments but also pre-prepared reasons/excuses in some cases (to manage expectations and disappointments).
Pretty sure Henderson said of Constitution Hill after his hurdling debut that he'll "make a smashing chaser in time" or something similar.

"He’s been a member of our Fat Boys Club – one of those who has needed masses of extra work to get the weight off him – but we’re nearly there now and he'll have his first run for us over fences at Warwick on Tuesday. He'll improve enormously for it."
Worth noting what Nicholls said in his stable tour about golden sun
Two different trainers for him quoting their own independent thoughts. One thinks post-race he would go back in trip rather than up.
The other one, pre-race in a Stable Tour suggests 3M in time.
The joy of having a joint training licence, and two differing opinions in public.
Also, these 2 trainers wouldn't be use to such immediate media intrusion post race (I dread to think what I would be like if I had a microphone stuck under me, and I had to elaborate my thoughts quickly) and given who the owner is, running plans at the Spring Festivals, need to be factored in alongside other training establishments. We now await his all important 2nd run of the season.
“At Aintree he looked like he wanted a trip, but maybe he had a hard enough race at Cheltenham and he just ran a bit flat at Aintree. Maybe that wasn’t his true reading.
“Whether you go for a smaller race then go up a level or go straight up a level next we will just have to see.
“On a tighter track like Kempton on better ground you could go three miles, but we will see how we go. The Kauto Star could be considered.
“If it is soft ground at Cheltenham he would probably stay at two and a half miles and if it was quick he would go over three miles.”
HDB on Inthepocket via ATR stable tour : "He is schooling really well over fences and the starting point we have in mind for him is the maiden chase at Navan on November 18th. Being a Grade 1-winning novice hurdler you’d have to be excited about him going chasing and hopefully he should take to it well."
